List: I have a Hattie Rucker who married a William Shockley. Hattie's dates are said to be 09/13/1859-07/09/1940. The William Shockley she is thought to have married's dates are 02/04/1863-01/07/1919. Some children are/could be: Carl, Claude, Willis, Myrtle, Buford, Flody, Charles, Lafayette. Would anyone be able to give me additional information on Hattie's parent, siblings, and if known, any information on this William Shockley? Looking for information on the family of Maynard Morgan. He and Francis Eliza (surname unk) are supposed to have married in Grainger County, TN sometime around 1885. They are found in the county in 1900 with daughters Eva, Iona and Edna. The family is then found in Knox County in 1910. Thank You. Debbie Oneal

Betty - Thank you for this information. I have recently started putting together a Vineyard Family tree and I will add the information and note that it has not be documented. But at least it is a place to start. (My 4th great grandmother was Susannah Vineyard who married Greenberry Mitchell Sr.) Many thanks. No marriage found as of yet for Isom and Eliza but two of her children, Elbert married Victoria Cook and daughter Lula married Murphy Cook, both of these being children of Wiley Cook of Hawkins Co., TN. Lula married Murphy in 1916. Wiley Cook and his family were neighbors of Isom Sutton and his first wife Mary Barnard Sutton. Mary Sutton died in 1911. >From this I deduct that Eliza must have moved with her remaining children still at home, from Grainger to Hawkins Co., TN before the time her father Thomas Nelson Coffey died in 1917. Isom and Mary Barnard Sutton are buried in Hawkins Co., TN in the Sutton Cemetery. Eliza J. Coffey Shockley Sutton is buried in Meadow Branch Cemetery, Bean Station, Grainger Co., TN. The 1900 Grainger Co., TN census has Eliza as having 8 children with 5 living. The five Shockley children are: Eva Mae (married a Perry Dalton-need help on this Perry)11/1886 Lean (possibly Orlena named after Eliza's aunt Orlena/Orenna Coffey) 12/1887 Nelson T. Eliza's husband William "Will" Shockley was born (using census information) c 1862 and died 01/1910. There was another William Berry Shockley born c 1833 and he married Louisa Coffey and is known to have died 10/1871, and he was the younger William Berry Shockley's uncle as he was the brother of Wainwright Shockley, father of the younger WB. This older William Berry Shockley and Louisa Coffey also had a son William born c 1861 of which I have no additional information on and would like to ask if anyone else could provide any help on him. It is possible that the son of William Berry and Lousia Coffey Shockley is the actual husband of Eliza, and not the William Berry Shockley, son of Wainwright Shockley. Since Eliza is buried in Grainger Co., TN in Meadow Branch, I hope that one of the William Shockleys may also be buried there, or another family member of Eliza's. She does have at least one brother there, Addison "Adam" Coffey 1879-1938. A summary of questions: Marriage for Isom Sutton and Eliza J. Coffey Shockley (after 1911)? Thank you Ross and Gail for the help, I did not know exactly how the name Presha was spelled, but in the small section of the Greenlee Genealogy they spelled it Pershia. I will try to find the Greenlee genealogy on line. My question concerned the children of Presha and Nelson Roach and the information included with that information. I have part of page 376 and it is possible I copied it from some computer information that was submitted through this site. I have tried to find the death date of Sarah Jane Roach (their daughter) born 17 July 1871. I know that she died perhaps in the 1890's. Her husband, James Nelson Cameron, remarried soon afterwards...perhaps two times. Thanks again for any information and it is good to be back. By the way, Cousin Ross, have you completed your search for the Cameron Clan? Thanks for all your help. Dear Carolyn, There is a Greenlee Book. I inadvertently discovered it one day on a website I subscribe to, I think I was looking for information on the Noes, I think <grin> Since we have discussed Nelson and Pershia and little William Mayes son of Sarah Roach and William Mayes and at that time I was writing to William Owens who is descended from Edward Mayes I printed it off. Just the chapter <grin> on the Grainger County Greenlees which took quite a while anyway. <smile> If you could tell me exactly what information you need I could send it to you. Actually I think I could send you a file although I have not tried this. You can send Ancestry files too. <smile> I had never tried this either, but a cousin was sending me census information one day so I tried it out. <grin> BTW Jesse Galyon's widow was apparently the third? (so far I have three) <grin> the last wife of Edward Hodge. I bet Edward who probably thought he was a pretty ordinary person and died about 120 years ago would be really surpried at how many times his name comes up on this list. <teehee> Gail ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wayne May" <caroway@joimail.com> To: <TNGRAING-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 17, 2005 10:44 Subject: [TNGRAING-L] Greenlee Genealogy > Is there a Greenlee book or web site? Does anyone have the parents of Lewis ADKINS, B.15 MAy 1785in Grainger, TN, who married Elizabeth MONROE B. 15 DEc. 1784. They married 24 Jan 1804. He died 14 Jun 1868 and she died 17 DEc. 1865. They had 11 children who intermarried with the BURNETT, MULLENS, PHIPPS, NEEDHAM, MULLINS, HILL, ATKINS and HUBBS families. I need his parents and proof that her mother was Rosannah (Janie)PUCKETT. and Robert MONROE. I also need the parents of Fereby (Phoebe) HILL, who married the above couple's son, Robert (Robin) ADKINS 1 Feb. 1838. She was born in 1816 and died in 1897 in Grainger. He was born 16 Jan 1816 and died 20 Jan 1892. They are buried in the ADKINS Cem. off Tater RD., Grainger. Since the families were long time residents of the area, can anyone tell me if there are obits from any newspapers in the area for the late 1800's. Thank you for any help. Hello again - now that Grace, and Mike, have been kind enough to help my aging memory, can someone on the list provide me with a mailing address for the church, and possibly a name to whom I might address my request? I am trying to locate the church or cemetery record for the burial of Frances Whitt, as all attempts to acquire a death certificate have failed. She was alive and in Grainger Co. in 1930, aged 57 or 58. I can't imagine she would have died out of state, but it is beginning to look that way. I'd like to write the church, or email them, if anyone knows the email address. Thanks in advance for any help someone might provide. Eleanor

For Grace McGinnis - Grace, I am not at home where your cemetery volumes are, and my memory is failing me - might I trouble you please to check and tell me the name of the cemetery where Eliza J. Bibbins and her granddaughter, Frances Whitt are buried? It is either New Blackwell or New Prospect - but I am drawing a blank. Eliza was moved by TVA, I think, and her granddaughter who died in 1957 was buried beside her. Thanks so very much for your help - I don't have any of my files or email addresses or anything with me. In the 1880 census Permelia was living with her son, William Perry Harrell. My Great Grandfather is Joseph Henry Harrell and he is buried in the Harrell Cemetery on Lakeshore Road in Grainger County. Joseph Henry was married first to Julia Joyce and then in 1881, he married Angeline McGoldrick. Does anyone know where Perry and Permelia Harrell are buried? My Aunt Hazel says they are buried in Grainger County but she can't remember where. Perry died before 1860 and Permelia died after 1880.
