    3. First of all I am not sure of the exact DOD of Amanda Long Ivy. This tombstone was mis-transcribed when the WPA transcribed the cemetery or maybe it was already unreadable at the time, the current transcription of Economy Cemetery has the same information. "Amanda Ivy, w/o J. H. Ivy Apr 15 1852, December 13 1856." <grin> Now if you think about it this is NOT possible. A helpful fellow researcher took pictures of the Ivy tombstones in Economy Cemetery and as the stones were difficult to read attempted to transcribe them. John H. is lying between his two wives out in Economy Cemetery, I could figure out that much, but I don't think that even if I ever get to Tennessee I will be able to read tthis stone. One could suppose that Amanda died 13 December 1856, but I currently have 1888. Why??? The obituary of my great uncle Bob (Robert Taylor Ivy) says his mother died when he was about 7. It has NOT been my experience that widowers with 6 young children waited four years to remarry. This is the weirdest reason of all...in looking back it seems to me that grandpa's memory of his mother is clearer than the memory of a three year old. There was a large picture of John H. (John Hamilton Ivy II) and Amanda hanging over grandpa's bed. It wasn't always there and I don't know whether he had always had it or whether somebody either out here or back in Tennessee had died and he came into it. He was showing the picture to me and my mother and talking about his mom.. Although I certainly was not into genealogical research then, I don't know why it didn't occur to me to just ask how old he was when Amanda died. Gail

    3. Dear fellow Grainger County researchers. In case anyone is wondering what this is all about??? and why in all my years on the list you have never heard anthing about my great great grandparents Nick and Jane Cooter Long?? What this is all about is that some months ago I promised to send a fellow researcher in this list my information on the Hazelwoods (Hazlewoods) at least the descendent of Thomas and Barsheba? and Blany and Catherine Manson? Hazelwood. Blany was most likely married about three times, but I would be glad to just get the children of his LAST wife straightened out. Also I was going to send her my information on my Longs although my Longs are different Longs than hers. She probably thinks that I have fallen into a hole out here is Missouri. Actually my "nearest" ancestress fell and broke her hip and then.... , I could just go on and on...... (<grin> but I won't!) I have resolved to just print off what I have and sent it on this week! <grin> It seems that I will have no time soon to do any further research. <smile> Answer to why you all have never heard of the Longs...when I printed out my data I encountered once again all the discrepamcies and "holes" in my data that I have been unables to "fill in" or "fix" <sigh> More about these holes as I have time this evening. Gail

    3. <grin> I have noticed that Regan. I am trying to send a report in ASCII text which I think is legal. It was a three generation report on one of my families. I have tried to cut it down into parts (not working). Shorter report basically just an extended group sheet with children. <grin> no luck. <smile> I think I will just give up for awhile.
