    3. Grace, What do you have on the Collins family? I am searching for 1) Moses Collins married Anna Botts, their son, 2) David Collins married Phoebe Unknown, and their daughter, 3) Clary Collins married William Savage. Moses is on the 1830 Grainger County census and that is all I know. I just found out that the Collins are connected to my Savage line. -----Original Message----- From: Grace McGinnis [mailto:mcginnis@planetc.com] Sent: Tuesday, January 17, 2006 7:31 PM To: TNGRAING-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNGRAING-L] Re: Stanford and Susan Collins Gail, I have no information on the Collins before Stanford. Azariah Shelton married Sarah Holt in VA. & was in Hawkins & Granger Co. before Tennessee became a state. They had at least three sons that were doctors. David, Hezekiah, & Azariah. 3. I have not really researched the grandchildren of this family except for the family of Joseph Hugh and Mary Catherine Holt Long. Louisa Holt Long Williams had only one son by her first marriage to my great great uncle George G. Long. However, somewhere I have a printout of J. F. Williams household from the 1920 Atchison County census. I distinctly remeber a daughter named Gracie.J. F. and Louisa may have had other children..<grin>.my memory of this is dim since this would be the night I kept getting up all night to check out what happened to George Long's widow. I don't think Catherine Noe and William Holt had children, I also have a weird collection of information on the grandchildren of John and Anna Holt that I have just run across. I found Sarah Holt Ottman's marriage record in the Catholic Church records when I was researching my father's side of the family (all Irish famine immigrants). That's how I knew Maria was a Dalton. <grin> The cemetery book jsut says Maria E. Someone at the NWMGS in St. Joe is extracting the Fairfax Forum. One of the items was about Lizzie Portis's brother dying in Brookfield Missour. Elizabeth and I don't remember the brother's name would be children of Margaret Holt and Phelps Noe. Like I said a varied collection. I will probably have more information after collecting the Holt obits out here starting with Martha Helton and John M. Holt since Arlene is interested in these. Anyway of this is your family I will be glad to resend the family groups sheet and later on update you ona ny further information I find. 3. Dear Gary, Did you see my family group sheet that I sent to the list? Soetimes I am not sure that I get all the list messages. Everyone on the list probably does not want to see this again. I will be delighted to send this inormation on to you personally though. The message I sent was about the family of John and Anna Price Holt. This family is buried in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Some of them, of course, are buried out here.<smile> Arlene may be more expert on these Holts than I am. The group sheet was compiled from common sources, Cemeteries of Hamblen County V. 3, the new book by Marguerite Willims and the Hamblen County Genealogical Society, Hamblen and Nearby Deaths, The Grainger County Marriage Records on film, if I didn't have a copy of the marriage record from film I used Douthat's Hamblen county marriages, the Atchison County Cemetery book Gone, but Not Forgotten and that common genealogical source the U.S. federal census. <smile> However, there were a lot of Holts. There were actually two Holts who served in the American Revolution in Grainger County there may have been other Holts, too. These early families tended to multiply fairly rapidly. I suspect some of the Holts moved on though. Otherwise there would have been hundreds of them. If the family of John Holt and Anna Price Holt is the family you are intersted in I will send this information on to you.
