    3. Hi list friends, I've been looking at a TVA topographical map of the JOPPA area of Grainger Co. I see a HOWELL RD north of the Holston River. It runs NW to SE, ending near the river in the loop between Vineyard Bend and Horse Shoe Bend. Does anyone know who this road was named after? Any other interesting and pertinent information would be welcomed also. I'm a Howell hunter happy to hear from any others interested in this surname. Thanks for your assistance and courtesy. 3. Hi William, Sharon, I checked on a roll of Grainger Co. Marriage Index microfilm that I have for William Owens between the years 1876 and 1880 and did not see anything. There wasn't a William Owens in the index for years between 1858-1888 either. The film I have only goes to 1888 so I couldn't check the other name. Here are some others I jotted down while I was looking for William though. Alpheus Owens m. Margaret Roach, 4 Dec 1859 Nicholas Owens m. Adaline Pate, 24 mar 1861 H. A. Owens m. M. E. Mallicoat, 22 Oct 1869 James L. Owens m. Margaret Jones, 9 Oct 1870 John Owens m. Anna Goins, 27 July 1876 Joseph H. Owens m. Martha Goins, 25 Dec. 1876 Mary J. Owens m. Hiram Hodge, 11 Feb 1877 Elzira Owens m. H. A. Jones, 12 May 1877 Mary E. Owens m. W. S. Galyon, 16 Aug 1877 Amanda A. Owens m. James F. Young, 28 Oct 1877 J. W. Owens (m) m. A. C. Roach (f), 24 Sept. 1878 Hope some of these help. Terry Clift Maryville, TN At 10:32 PM 7/19/99 -0700, you wrote: >Hi Sharon > >No I did not receive any help on my request.
