    2. Stephaine, No lodging at Rutledge, but when I was there, they let me park my RV behind the old school where many records were being stored, maybe a block from the Court House. Also ask the clark to let you in the back room at the court house where many marriage records were kept when I was there in 95.

    2. Hello All, Can anyone on the list tell me where Flat Rock is or was? Was Flat Rock a community or township or only a cemetery? My great grandparents were buried there before the TVA grave removal. Also, can someone give me an approximate date when this happened? I can't seem to find anything online about Grainger County removals. Thank you, Cheryl Summerville

    3. Hi Karen (and everybody else). Thanks, but it was the FHC I was talking about. I thought I had seen references on the list to people obtaining films of original land records etc. I did find some records for the 1920s on mentioned in the locality index, but this is later than I need. As I said I did find the records that Dale cited in the locality index, but from the years they cover I think they are probably the WPA transcriptions and I have those. BTW does anyone have citations for the Kennerly books. I did find these on film (indeterminate loan), but I think they were missing part of the information I need to cite them. Am still hoping to get access to original filmed records for my immediate ancestors, but I may just have to break down and order them from the archives. 2. I just wanted to let everyone know that I still have a few copies of the marriage record book for the years 1796-1809, if you would like a copy it cost only $15.00. Email me privately and I'll let you know how to get your copy. Also we have started working on the next ones, they are dated 1810-1819. I did notice yesterday when we were transcribing these that some of them would have the man's name example John Doe of Grainger Co. but I found one yesterday that had the man's name but it had "John Doe" of Montgomery Co. then had the bride's name "Jane Doe" of Grainger Co. I only saw a couple of these. We tried to make a note on the ones we saw like that and we will make a note in the book when I type it up. We should have it ready to print by the end of the week. 1. Re: [TNGRAING-L] Bradford/Hodges
    2. Ross Cameron
    3. Hi Kenneth, No, I have not done any further searching yet on this Frances Hodges. My g-g-g-g-gf Moore's cousin, Margaret Moore, married Alexander Keith Bradford in 1852. So I checked some earlier records like censuses and marriages to learn more about him -- age, parents's names, etc. -- and came across these earlier census and marriage records below. I presume that he is the only Alex. K. Bradford and these are earlier wives because the data seem to fit. However, I do not have proof. I don't have the source records with me to check. However, I believe that the 1850 and 1860 census records indicate he is the same man. Because the children surnamed Hodges in the 1850 census probably are from a previous marriage of the wife and there is an 1849 marriage record, I have deduced the likely connection. The Mary E. Bradford, age 15, in 1860 who was not listed in his household in 1850, I have presumed is a daughter of his from a previous marriage. However, I have not looked for her in 1850 and don't know why she wasn't with him. She could be a niece or some other relative rather than his daughter. Also, his marriage to Frances Hodges apparently did not last long since he apparently remarried in 3 1/2 years. Either she died or they divorced rather soon after marriage. When I get around to following up on this, I will let you know what I find. Likewise, let me know if you see any connection. When I get back to my Cameron line in the next couple of weeks, I will get back to you because there are several connections to Hodges which we may benefit from exchanging information about. Ross Cameron >>> Kenneth Hodge <khodge@gdi.net> 08/30/99 03:05PM >>> Hi Ross, Do you have any additional info on the Hodges of Jefferson Co. that you mentioned in your note? 2. Bruce Roorda
    3. Dale, Thanks for the list. :) I did find some of these in the locality index. I think these are probably the WPA transcriptions and inventories. I have the WPA films (the years seem to be the same). Does anyone know anyplace closer than Tennessee (I live in Northwest Missouri) where could view films of the original records??? I had thought of some kind of interlibrary loan, but that would be difficult to arrange through the smaller libraries around here.
