Since we are on the subject of the Roach family in Grainger . . . does anyone have any info about a Nancy Roach or Joliff married to a Richard Cardwell? Thanks so much Gail. I did have most of the information except Reuben and Jane's ages. Now I remember the discrepency was what I found puzzling although I have found wives who were that much older than their husbands. At the time I could not figure out whether Jane was Reuben's wife or his mother. However, since then I have run across the marriage between Reuben and Jane.... Well this does provide food for thought. As I have said before I am not trying to do Mayeses in America or even in Grainger County (Oh dear!!) Just my line (or lines <grin>). However, eventually you find that in order to solve the "puzzle" you just need to know more about everyone!! One researcher calls part of his web page the Mayes maze <smile> Anyway some of us are discussing some conflicting information...so thanks for all your help!! I would still like to hear from someone who is researching the Reuben Groves (have also seen this as Graves)/Nancy Mayes branch of the family! Hi, First of all I wonder if anyone on the list has the 1850 Grainger County census. I rented the film and so don't have an access to it right now. I was checking out the Rueben Groves household and apparently I had to quit in the middle of extracting the entry. There is a note about where to start again on my extract form.... Actually just a printed transcription would be fine. I have most of the entry. Rueben's household is dwelling 241 household 254. Secondly I thought that at one time there was someone on the list who was descended from Reuben Groves and Nancy Mayes. I would really like to get in touch with this researcher. Gail
