Ray: I have a Howerton/Baumgardner family I'm doing some work in and I found where a Claude/Cloud Baumgardner married one woman (actually she was 13) then in other information found where he's married to the girl's older sister. I felt the researcher was wrong, then I finally found where most likely the younger girl died and the next oldest sister married Claude to become a mother for the young baby. Have you checked any death dates of Gardner? Or was one of the Catherine Vineyards a married before woman, and she just happened to marry a Vineyard and when he died, she married a Mays. Also, want to know who Myra Inez Mayes belongs to. Sheri --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! DSL - Now only $29.95 per month!
Although I am not researching the Vineyards the name jumped out at me. My 4th great grandmother was Susannah Vineyard. Her father was John (Johannes Weinert) Vineyard Sr. born 1755 in Germany and her mother was Mary Best. Susannah was married to Greenberry Mitchell Sr. on December 20, 1806 in Little Valley, Grainger County, Tennessee. So we're probably related in some way. I also have an Artie, Celia, Elizabeth, Glenn R., another John, Ova Bela and W.A. Vineyard in my Mitchell family history. The sixth annual Nelson Family Reunion for the descendants of Jave and Ellen Evans Nelson will be Saturday June 28, 2003, at the Farmers Grove Baptist Church fellowship hall, beginning at 11:30 A. M. Bring covered dishes for lunch, pictures, family stories, and other memorabilia for sharing. We are in the process of compiling a family cookbook, so we would like recipes from everyone. There will be fun and games for the kids after lunch. Jave Nelson is said to be a direct descendant of Joseph Anderson for whom Anderson County is named. Joseph Anderson was a Revolutionary War soldier, U. S. congressman, and first comptroller of the U. S. Treasury. He is buried in the Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D. C. Ellen Evans Nelson's parents were Thomas J. Evans and Permelia York Evans, daughter of Joseph York who was born in Tennessee in 1802, and Mary York. Thomas and Permelia came to Tennessee after the Civil War. Thomas Evans and other family members are buried in Sunset Cemetery in Anderson County. Permelia York Evans supposedly died and was buried at Clouds Switch, TN in Claiborne County, TN in 1901. Jave and Ellen's children included David, Henry, Catherine Nelson Tadlock, Frank, Tom, Cynthia Nelson Wilson, Page, Taylor, Sam, Clara, and two others who died as infants. Jave and Ellen are buried in the Liberty Cemetery near New Salem Baptist Church. Jave possibly had a sister named Margaret. Ellen Evans Nelson's siblings included Hugh Evans, former Clinton city marshall, Silas, Mary Evans Phelps, Martha, Sintha, Thomas Milton and John. Jave Nelson was sometimes called J. M. or Jabers. If any of these names ring a bell, we'd love to hear from you. You may contact: Carolyn Nelson Johnson at <[email protected]>.

I am the who offered lookups in the reconstructed 1810 Tennessee census. There is no John SOLOMON. There are four SOLOMONS listed, as follows: Frances SOLOMON Grainger County, 1810 Census, 021-10001 James SOLOMON Cocke County, received military commission 1809 James SOLOMON Jefferson COUNTY, married Jane Ferrand 1809 Jordan SOLOMON Williamson County, 1810 tax list This is all he gives. The original census was completely destroyed and Charles Sherrill had to work from 61 different sources. There is no way of finding information that is not here, such as neighbors. I hope this helps somehow. Nancy
Thanks, Gail - will have to work on this along with my other Solomon notes when I get home. What comes across at first glance, is that Frances is between Solomon husbands in 1810. According to Henry Mayes' will written in Nov 1786, she was then mar. to a Solomon -this probably being John? Does anyone know when he died and she mar. Drury Solomon? Actually she could have been widowed from both by 1810, and lived another 20 years, dying abt 1830. Thanks again.
