I don't know who the John Montgomery was who settled on Robertson's Fork where James Montgomery,the Barrons and Samuel Stephenson settled after leaving York Co,S.C. There were three companies raised in York Co,SC for the War of 1812. A John Montgomery is listed as a member of this company. It's possible that John Montgomery might have come from the surrounding counties. John Stephenson 1785-1845,son of Robert Stephenson and Jane Barron and brother of Samuel Stephenson who went to Giles TN, was a member of this company. John Stephenson got John Hope to substitute for him at the end of the war.
