Steve, you are welcome. You are exactly the person I thought might be interested in this information. Sorting the LCA and GCT Holt's has sometimes proven to be a great challenge. Then tracking down the LCA Holt's who moved to Texas has proven to be an even greater challenge. I found Mattie in the 1920 Lamar Co., TX census living with her son W.H. Holt, but didn't find her son Claud P. Holt nor the dau Rue Ethel. If you take a good look at the 1900 census for family of George P. one would never decipher her given name to be either Rue Ethel or Ethel Rue Holt. The 1910 Ellis Co., TX census records under Mattie D. Holt isn't much clearer. George had siblings and cousins who moved to Lamar County so I'm guessing that's why Mattie moved the family to Lamar County. I'm guessing that Claude had asthma or some other lung problem and that's why the family moved to West Texas. I certainly wouldn't have looked for them there. Some of the extended Holt cousins would up in the Texas panhandle but not in the Abilene area so I certainly wouldn't have thought to look for them there. If you haven't already looked for some Stephenson descendants there I'd suggest you do so. I first found the obit for son William H. Holt. It was on the same page as a news item about a Browning-Landers (from Calhoun Co., AL) descendant I was tracking. I always check out Holt obits, just to see if its anyone that might be in my database and whalla! there was information on this long lost family of George P. Holt. Now, If only I could find the cemetery record for Geo. P. Holt.
