Seeking information on Mary STEPHENSON born 1832 in Al., and John STEPHENSON born 1834 in Al. In 1850, Mary and John were living in the home of their parents Samuel and Mary SHIELDS STEPHENSON of Giles County,TN. After 1850 these two STEPHENSONS disappear. If anyone has a Mary or John STEPHENSON born in Alabama in their family tree, I would appreciate the information. Cemetery records of Giles,which I do not have,is another option. Samuel STEPHENSON was born in York County,South Carolina about 1795. He was the son of Robert STEPHENSON 1755-1798,a soldier of the American Revolution,and Jane BARRON. A Samuel "STEVENSON " was living in Giles in 1820 with two boys under 10 years old. Samuel's sister,Margaret STEPHENSON, married James MONTGOMERY in York County,and they were in Giles by 1817. Another sister of Samuel STEPHENSON,Dorcas, married John BARRON in York County,South Carolina in 1808. They moved to Giles before 1814. In 1814,a George SHIELDS and Alexander BARRON sold land to Alexander BARRON,Jr. John BARRON and Robert STEPHENSON ,a brother to Samuel, witnessed the sale. Sylvester Brown STEPHENSON b.1837 in AL. married Mary HOLT,daughter of Edmund and Nancy HOLT of Giles County,TN., in Limestone County,Alabama,in 1857. Sylvester's brother,George Alexander STEPHENSON, born 1822 in AL. married Elizabeth Sarah PERRY (parents unknown)in 1849 in Giles. These are the known siblings of Mary and John STEPHENSON .
