A Robert S. Stephenson,age 26, lived in Madison County,Al.in 1850. His wife was a Susan F. Stephenson b. TN. She was 22 years old in 1850. They had a son James B. Stephenson b. 1848, and they later had a daughter,Elizabeth Stephenson who married a William COLE. A Willam Stephenson died in Madison in 1872 and Susan F.Stephenson's maiden name was mentioned as either a JUDE or DOUGLAS. A Mary Maddox of Giles County,TN. was also mentioned. This William Stephenson's wife was a Mary Clutts. I believe Robert S. Stephenson was the son of Samuel John Robert Stephenson and his wife Mary Shields Stephenson. Samuel Stephenson,Montgomerys,and Barrons, all related, lived in Giles County,TN. in 1820. Samuel Stephenson went to Limestone in 183O where he lived close to a Thomas FOGG. Susan F. Stephenson's maiden name might have been Fogg. Sylvester Stephenson,son of Samuel and Mary Stephenson,married Mary Holt of Giles County,TN. Either he or his wife Mary Holt had relatives by the surnames of BROWN and FOGG. The last trace of Samuel Stephenson and Mary Shields Stephenson is on the 1860 Census of Madison County,Al. Robert S.Stephenson died in Wood County,TX. in the 1880's and Susan F. was living in McLennan County,TX. in 1886. Also looking for a William BUCHANAN who married Mary A.
