    3. Elaine, I tried to reach you by email, but I could not get through to you. I remember your earlier message on Madray/Shields There was a Leander A. Shields b.1840 in Giles ,parents unknown. He married Elizabeth Madry in Giles in 1859. George Shields lived in Pendleton County,S.C. in 1800 and Alexander Barron was his neighbor there. By 1814,the Shields,Barrons, and Montgomerys were living near Elkridge in Giles. When my Samuel Stephenson reached the age of 21, in 1816,he sold his inheritance that he had received from his father Robert Stephenson in York County,S.C.and took off for Giles County,TN. to join his sisters Dorcas Stephenson Barron and Margaret Stephenson Montgomery. You mentioned Holts and Barrons in Limestone County. There were several families of Holts living in Limestone including Edmund and Nancy of Giles County in 1850. A large number of Holt families, probably related, lived in Giles, the Bunker Hill area. Some of the Barrons went on to Lauderdale County,Al. They might have stopped off in Limestone. George Stephenson married Elizabeth PERRY in Giles in 1849. Their daughter,Josephine Stephenson b. 1859 in Giles Co.,TN.,died in Athens,Alabama,Limestone County,in 1883. She is buried in the Hudson Cemetery near Athens. George's daughter,Mary Sue Stephenson b. Giles County in 1860 married Frank Monroe Hudson in Limestone in 1883.
