I am trying to make contact with anyone researching the BROWNLOW family in Tennessee.....specifically, Alexander S. Brownlow (b. 1817). He was the son of Catharine Gannaway and Joseph Brownlow and the brother to William Gannaway Brownlow. In 1840 or 1841, he married his first wife (our great great grandmother). It's her name I am trying to find. She had four children: James A.(1841), Jacob N.(1842), Nancy Ann(1845), and Sarah who was born in 1847. In August of 1847, he married again (to a Nancy C. Walters) leaving us to believe his first wife died in childbirth. I can find nothing on wife #1....no name, no marriage record, death record, burial or anything.. I believe her son, James A. (b. 1841) lived in Giles Co.as an adult, and maybe someone there would have the names of his parents.....or something about him that would lead me to that information.
