David2 Stewart ( Lazarus1) He was born ca 1735-40, came from Hanover township, Lancaster [ now Dauphin] Co., PA., to Rowan Co. NC, abt. 1755. Brothers James & Peter also came to Rowan Co., perhaps the same time. A David bought Jan. 15, 1760, of Humphrey Cunningham 100 ac on the north side Withrow creek, in Rowan Co..[ 4 : 216 ] In 1784 James, Peter & David signed a quit claim deed to their father's land in Penn.. David entered Oct. 11, 1778, an application at the land office of NC for 473 ac on Long branch on thr north side of Withrow creek, adjoining his other land and the lands of Nicholas Filhower, Jacob Crawford & John Patton, & the patent was issued Dec. 18, 1793 [13 : 436 ] David STEWART sold Mar. 31, 1794, to Isaac Cowan 200 ac on the northeast corner of his plantation, on the waters of Withrow creek. [ 18 :187 ] David may have died in eastern Tenn, where his son Thomas located in 1781. William and Martha were on the Hardeman Co., TN 1830 census a few pages away from Lazarus. I have not found concrete proof that he is Lazarus' son, only circumstantial.
