Hello all. I am researching the HUGHES family of Giles and Lawrence counties in TN and also Limestone Co., AL. I have been looking for the family of my gg grandfather R.F. Hughes who married Mary E. Liles in Lawrence Co., TN on November 02, 1869. We don't find them listed in the 1870 census of TN and by the 1880 census, Mary and their four children are listed in the household of Mary's parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Liles in Lawrence Co. What happened to R.F.? Did he die or did they divorce? Recently, I received some info from a subcriber to the Lawrence Co. list that my R.F. could possibly be Riley (Raleigh) F. Hughes, son of Aron and Elizabeth Bates Hughes. Aron's parents were William and Elidia Hughes, both of SC. It's my understanding that William Hughes died in Giles Co. in 1854. I found Aron's wife, Elizabeth, listed as the head of household in the 1870 Lawrence Co. census. Perhaps Aron was killed in the war. If there is anyone who could share info with me on this family, especially Riley, I would really appreciate it! Thanks! Tracy
