I am also interested in the First Settlers of Giles Co, Tn. Since I know so little about the area (I am just starting on this group and area) I understand from the last querie that there was a FIRE ? and they had been run off their land by the Military at Ft Hampton??? Could some one give me a little more information on this incident. I am not sure just when our family came into the area since we cannot confirm our Benj Bennett connection for certain. But our ancestor Joseph was born 1816 and his sister, Malinda was born 1813 and it was told that they are from Giles Co, Tn. They left the area before 1820. and went to Wayne Co, Ms with two older brothers, Jacob and Thomas. But where the Bennetts in Giles Co, during the trouble with the Military at Ft Hampton???
