Does anyone know why a widow would not be awarded a portion of her deceased husband's estate along with his children by his 1st & 2nd wives. She was his third wife and they had no children. He left a Will but the children contested it. In the Will the widow was left nothing - all went to the children. The Court divided the estate among the children and did not give anything to the widow. The widow later got a pension from the government since her husband was in the War of 1812. Would anyone have any ideas about a situation like this? It is believed she was Indian or part Indian. Would that be the reason the Court did not award her a portion of his deceased husband's estate. This case took place in 1887. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Margaret
