I've read the messages re: Neil and John, were there other brothers? Were there brothers of Duncan? My father "could have been a twin" to Neil S. Brown. My verifiable "trail of Browns", begins around 1818 with a Richard Brown who married Rebecca (maiden name not known); both born in TN. Census records, land records, and CW papers of their sons are listed on the Jackson County Illinois webpage. I've just started searching again after a 2 year timeframe.
