Robert Stephenson Montgomery(1814-1885),son of James Mongtomery and Magaret Stephenson,is believed to have been postmaster at Lynnville,Giles County,TN. 1868-1885. James Montgomery might have followed his brother-in-law Samuel Stephenson to Limestone County,Al.after 1820, or Madison County,Al.,but he disappears after 1820. John Barron,husband of Dorcas Stephenson, believed to have died before 1820. James Montgomery settled near the Elk Ridge Church on Robertson's fork. John Childress to James Montgomery and Thomas Stewart,both of Giles co.,Aug.13,1817.115 acs.on both sides of Robertson's Fork. A James Montgomery deeded to James Shields,Mar.16,1812,200 acs. on Big Creek in Second Dist.,granted to Montgomery,June 15,1810--Giles Co. Deed Book B,pp.59. The same James Montgomery ?
