Those who do not study the past are condemned to repeat it. Perhaps the value is examining our consciences regarding slavery is to be aware of what sins we may be commiting today. Practices can be so woven into the fabric of our culture as to make their wrongness seem invisible or justifiable. Will we recognize our own abuses? Will we change?
