A good source has James Montgomery leaving Giles Co,TN for Hardeman County,TN,where he died in 1843. The Col. John Stephenson who served in the American Revolution and later settled in Washington Co,PA could not be my John Stephenson as he was dead by 1773 in York Co,S.C. The John Stephenson in Washington might have been some relation but I have not found connection. I too wish I knew more about the Montgomerys of Giles Co,TN.All I know about James Montgomery is that his sons moved to Mississippi and on census records claimed their father was born in North Carolina. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This list is reserved for discussion of topics related to Giles County Tennessee Genealogy. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TNGILES-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
