I was so excited to see several responses to my Jones query. Jane, a question, did your Jones' family settle for a few years in Searcy Co., Arkansas before going on to Texas near the end of the Civil War? I have some information that my William H. and Naomi Jones and family was in Searcy Co., AR, when troops from a Union Army troops shot and killed William H. (early 1865) as he was walking towards a barn. Later the same day they came upon Seborn and a friend and shot and killed them also. I think soon after Naomi and the other children, (grown) moved somewhere in Texas near relatives?? There was also another William Jones in the same area of Arkansas, he was called CedarHead Jones? and reputed to be a relative of William H. It appears that "CedarHead" Jones was conspiring with the Northern Army, as he ended up with some property that was William H. Jones. I've never been able to find where Naomi Jones may have moved in Texas or what relatives either she or William H. had in Texas.
