Just heard of Elizabeth White's retirement and of course I want to add to the stories of her contribution to the Giles County Old Records Department as well as many of us living in different parts of the country. I live in Tularosa, New Mexico and Elizabeth has been such a great help in researching for information on my Waller, Miller and Simmons connections in Giles County. Clara Parker also has been a big help. Both are to be commended for their work in helping to preserve much of the history of Giles County. My husband and I visited the Old Records Department one time and was able to meet Elizabeth in person and it was so nice to put a face to a name. I was very proud to see a picture I had sent to Elizabeth of a Historical Marker in Delta County, Texas telling of the many families who had migrated from Giles County to this area of Texas. I was even able to help Elizabeth with some of her research one time. Members of a family she was doing research on had migrated to Tularosa and I was able to take pictures of the headstones in the local cemetery and send to her for her records. It was a good feeling having helped her just that little bit after all she had done for me. Know Elizabeth is going to be missed in the Old Records Department, but I certainly hope she enjoys her retirement and spends her days doing exactly what she wants to do. She has earned it! ENJOY!!
