Anyone on the list working on the Brownings and Lonshores ? I have been researching off and on the family of Nicholas Browning. I came across a marriage for a F. M. Browning and Elizabeth Longshore ? in Lauderdale County, Alabama on Sept. 20, 1864. I am thinking this is Francis Marion Browning, son of Viney Browning. I located Marion Browning and his wife, Elizabeth in Giles County in 1870: Marion Browning, w , m , 25 , Alabama Elizabeth, 32, Tennessee Susan, 13 , Tennessee ( who is she, too old to be their daughter ). Inas, 4 , Tennessee James , 3 , Tennessee Rebecca, 7 months, Tennessee I cannot seem to locate them in 1880. However in 1900 they are in Limestone County, Alabama, this time there is a Kissie Longshore listed as their niece, born Aug. 1881, she is 18, born in Tennessee. Living next door is their son, Claud ( e ) Browning and his family and next door to Claud (e) is his brother J. W. Browning and his family. Many thanks Robbie

In the 1880 Census referenced below the wife of William Hardeman is the Isabella Susan "Ezzie" "Isie" Browning listed in the 1870 household of Marion & Elizabeth Browning. William & Isabella married 17 Jan 1878 in Giles County, TN. On the marriage bond her surname is listed as Longshore. On her son William's Social Security Application he lists her maiden name as Browning. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, November 06, 2005 8:03 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [TNGILES] Browning and Longshore 1880 Federal Census Giles County, Tennessee District 3, household 232/240 Marion Browning, W, M, 34, Alabama, Farm Labor Hespy Must be Elizabeth, wife, 43, Tennessee Inez, daughter, 15, Tennessee Wade, son, 13, Tennessee Becca, daughter, 10, Tennessee Fannie, daughter, 8, Tennessee William, son, 6, Tennessee George, son, 1, Tennessee His neighbors were William Hardeman age 62 and Charles Webster 26.
