Samuel's sister,Margaret married James Montgomery in York Co,S.C. in 1817. All these people migrated to Giles Co,TN before 1820. Samuel Stephenson had a son James H. Stephenson who appears on the 1860 census of Giles Co,TN: 1860 US Federal Census, Southern Subdivision, Giles Co, TN 429/411 James H Stephenson, 31, 1829, farmer, AL Martha M Stephenson, 33, 1827, wife, AL Mary A Stephenson, daughter, 4, 1856, AL John W Stephenson, son, 3, 1857, AL Martha D Stephenson, daughter, 1, 1859, TN Amanda Montgomery, 27, 1833, AL (Note on census: Religion-Insane) James H.Stephenson married Martha Manerva Montgomery in Limestone Co,Al in 1852. If the information is correct that I have there was a James G. Montgomery living in Limestone Co,Alabama in 1850 who was born in North Carolina in 1780. In his house was a Martha M. Montgomery,age 25,b.Alabama. I don't believe this is the James Montgomery who married Margaret Stephenson in York Co,S.C. James H. Stephenson and wife and James'brother Sylvester Brown Stephenson went from Giles Co,TN.to Ellis County,TX where they appear on census records of 1890 and 1900. I am also interested in the marriage of a Joseph Montgomery to Mary Polly Brunson as I believe there is a connection to the Brunsons of Giles Co,TN.
