    3. Made a typo. Actually it is Thorn, forget the e. & Isaac James is listed in Giles Co TN Land Extracts, entry # 88, as neighbor adj. Joseph Calvert. I 'think' he married Sarah Parker 3 Jan 1787 in Fauquier Co VA. It appears to me that the land warrants land was located in Arkansas from memo in lower left hand corner.??? Sometimes soldiers sold the land and never lived on it. 3. That court record dated 1871 mentions Susan married Robert Stevenson This is the Susan F. Jennings below: Elizabeth Jennings left a will in Lincoln Co,TN in 1857,naming grandchildren: Lucy Ann James,Benjamin Pleasant Jennings,Susan F. STEPHENSON, Mary Nichols Bledshoe,Sarah Hamey Jennings,Pleasant Wilson Weaver,Elizabeth Hindman,John Weaver and Samuel Madison Weaver. I believe this Susan Francis Jennings married Robert S.Stephenson who was probably the son of my Samuel Stephenson and his wife Mary Shields of Giles Co,TN. 1860 Madison Co,Al, census Robert S.Stephenson 1820), Tennessee Susan F Stephenson, wife, 30, (1829), Tennessee Jas B Stephenson, 11, (1848), Alabama Sarah A E Stephenson, 9, (1850), Alabama 1880 Census for Madison, AL Robert Stephenson, 59, (1821) TN/SC/SC Susan F Stephenson, 50, (1830), AL?AL?AL Allisa M Cole, 25, (1855), AL Also living in Madison Co,Al in 1860 was my Samuel Stephenson: Samuel Stephenson, age 64,b.S.C. Mary Shields Stephenson, age 64,S.C. Samuel Stephenson's father was a Robert Stephenson,so Samuel named one of his son's for his father. Pauline Gandrud copied the courthouse records for Madison Co,Alabama. In one of her books she mentions Susan F. Stephenson and husband Robert Stephenson,Mary Clutts, and Sally Maddox of Giles Co,TN. I think James B. Stephenson had died and Sally Maddox attended the funeral. I lost my copy the record, but if anyone has access to Pauline Gandrud's books on Madison Co,Alabama, Sally Maddox is mentioned.

    3. As you know some of the public records are not correct either. The record I sent to you was confusing as it said contradictory things. Do you have any of the records from GCT? I have entered quite a bit of info into my database about Samuel and Elizabeth Jordan and their descendants. I will be glad to share with you if you don't have it. The land of the Jordan's is about 10 miles from where I live. 3. Thank you for your response to my query about "Josiah E Maddox" and Mary Jordan. My information passed on from Maddoxes listed Josiah and Mary Jordan as parents of Samuel (of Holmes Co. as you list him.) and that Mary Jordan was born in 1804 to Samuel and Elizabeth Jordan. As I understand it, the parentage is correct but you say Mary married William and then Samuel, and was the mother of Samuel J Maddox b. 1824. This Samuel J is my husband's ggrandfather, so this is importantant to us. I do see William in the 1820 Giles Co.census but no Samuel Maddox. Also census records showing Josiah in Montgomery Co. We have been frustrated not to find any connections to Josiah other than knowing he came from Va, and at one time bought land with Samuel Jordan. We will continue our research and we certainly thank you for your information. I must admit, my head is spinning trying to assimilate all this.
