    1. [TNGILES] Pearsons
    2. DTaplin
    3. The request from Janice Freeman was for Pearsons : She said: "This PEARSON family is found in several middle TN county Census records: 1900 Bedford, 1910 Marshall, 1920 Giles, 1930 Rutherford." I don't know the names she listed, but I believe my Pearsons could be related from an earlier generation or two. The oldest Pearson I know was William Henderson Pearson born Bedford 1824, died Lincoln 1905. Married Mary Ann Milam. Their children were: 1.William Lafayette Pearson b. 1861 Marshall d. 1943 Giles. married Sara Etta Pigg (my great-grandparents) 2. John Thomas Pearson b. 1845 married Jane Finley 3. James B. b. 1847 married Betty Luna Malone 4. Nancy F. b. 1849 married Wesley Davis 5. Robert Calvin b. 1851 m. Mary Jane Finley 6. Margaret b. 1853 married James Nichols 7. Amelia b. 1859 8. Wilson b. 1863 married Mollie 9. Charles b. 1870 married Cordelia. So, I don't suppose I am much help to Ms. Freeman, but it can't hurt to post this info. Dianna

    1. [TNGILES] PEARSON Family 1900-1930 - Need Help (Also BALTIMORE, HILLIARD, JOHNS)
    2. Janice R Freeman
    3. This PEARSON family is found in several middle TN county Census records: 1900 Bedford, 1910 Marshall, 1920 Giles, 1930 Rutherford. Most of the ch listed below lived as adults in either Marshall Co or Rutherford Co as far as is known. Need help in contacting PEARSON descendants of James PERRY and Arena / Rena Frances BUCKINGHAM who m abt 1891/2, also any BALTIMORE, HILLIARD, or JOHNS descendants. I have been told that a Grady PEARSON of Lewisburg and a Mildred HASKINS who m a PEARSON may be related to this PEARSON family. James H? PERRY b abt 1850-1855 m Arena / Renee Frances BUCKINGHAM abt 1873 - 1909. She was one of 6 daus and 1 son b 1863 - 1875 to Peter BUCKINGHAM and Emily Frances "Milly" DICKENS. The BUCKINGHAM ch grew up in the area around Law's Hill between Chapel Hill and Lewisburg in Marshall Co that is behind (to the east) and slightly south of Henry Horton Park near Daniel and Hopper Cemeteries where many family members are buried. James and Renee (spelling on tombstone in Hopper Cemetery) had 4 ch: Hel(l)en or Ellen who m Robert PEARSON Ben PERRY who m 3 times, one wife was Maud(e), poss no ch Ada Louise PERRY b abt 1906 who m David "Nathaniel" HILLIARD Infant b and d May 1909 (d 15 May, 3 days after Renee d 12 May 1909) The 1900 Census places the PERRY family in Sims Spring, Bedford Co as follows: PERRY, Jim 49 (Census has b July 1850) Farm Laborer Rena 27 (nee BUCKINGHAM, Census has b Apr 1873) Ellen 4 (Census has b Apr 1896) Remie 10/12 (mistranscription of Bennie on microfilm) (Census has b July 1899) (Census has mar 8 yrs, 2? of 3 ch living.) At the top of the same Census page, Ozro CALDWELL 6, b Jan 1894, is enumerated. He would later marry Maggie A BUCKINGHAM, only dau of Rena's older brother, Wm Joseph "Joe" BUCKINGHAM and Ada Louise BROMLEY. Ozro served in Germany during WW I, returning to TN w/ TB from which he died 16 Feb 1922. Ozro and Maggie had one son, James CALDWELL b 31 Dec 1920 who currently lives on Hwy 270, and one dau, Frances Louise CALDWELL b 22 Dec 1921, who died when she was about 2 weeks old. Maggie d 2 Aug 1923 also of TB, leaving young James CALDWELL an orphan to be raised by his maternal grandparents, "Joe" and Ada BUCKINGHAM. In the 1910 Dist 2 Marshall Co Census, the family is listed as: PERRY, James H 54 Ellen 14 m Robert PEARSON Benjamin F 10 m 3 times, one wife was Maud(e) ?? Ada L 3 m David "Nathaniel" HILLIARD NOTE: Wife Rena died May 1909. In 1920, I found the PEARSON family in Pulaski, Giles Co, TN as follows: PEARSON, Robert 36 Laborer / Phosphate Mines Mattie 21 (2nd wife ? maiden name ? correct age ?) Thomas 7 Son Christine 3 9/12 Dau Odell 7/12 Son I find this most interesting because the family members who told me about their PEARSON cousins never mentioned Robert's wife being anyone other than Hel(l)en / Ellen PERRY or references to her dying young. Mattie is obviously NOT Hel(l)en / Ellen whose age from the 1910 Census places her bd as 1895/6, thus having an age just a year or two younger than that of Robert, abt 1893/4. OR is Mattie another name for Hel(l)en / Ellen and her age in 1920 just way off (as they sometimes are - see Robert's ages in the 1920 and 1930 census records) ? When and where did Hel(l)en / Ellen PERRY PEARSON die ? The 1930 Census places The PEARSON's (for the most part) in Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co, TN as follows: PEARSON, Robert 35 Laborer / Lumber Mill (who is 1 yr younger than he was 10 years earlier in the 1920 Census when he was 36) NOTE: No wife is listed. Thomas 17 (may have lived Lewisburg area) Christine 13 (may have worked at Marshall Co Couthouse) Odell 10 (may have served in WW II, poss never mar) Mary A 6 (the only name Not given to me by cousins) Lulla 4 (Lucille ?) Eva M 3 Also in 1930, two other known ch of Robert PEARSON are enumerated in Dist 1 Marshall Co with Hel(l)en / Ellen PERRY PEARSON's younger sister's (Ada PERRY HILLIARD's) family as follows: HILLIARD, Nathaniel 28 Ada L 23 Wife (nee PERRY) Mary E 6 Dau, mar Charles JOHNS Maxie L 4 5/12 Dau, mar Jesse BALTIMORE PERRY, James 75 Father-in-law HILLIARD, Hellen P 9 Niece PEARSON, Possibly m Clarence HILLIARD, relative of Nathaniel ? Eugene 7 Nephew PEARSON, thought to have worked in AL It seems unlikely that if Hellen b abt 1920/1 and Eugene b abt 1922/3 were NOT the children of Ada's older sister, Hel(l)en / Ellen b abt 1895/6, that they would be living w/ Ada Louise PERRY HILLIARD in 1930. Most grateful for any additions, corrections, and help in contact any members of this PERRY / PEARSON, etc family. Janice

Also, am looking for information about Thomas' wife Elizabeth Kendrick and her family. She is from SC, full blood Cherokee. If you have information, I would be interested. Not sure which Asa this belongs to as there were two. "Asa Moore was in the War of 1812. He lived in Giles Co., TN. He was ordered to pay to Ritta Rea for maintenance of a "bastard" child which he begot on her body, $20.00 first year, and $15.00 for two years for a total of $50.00. Jeptha, brother, is verified below, 1860 Harrison County TX Census Beat #3 House # - Family # Name Age Sex Race Occupation Real Estate Value Personal Estate Value Born 449-437 J Moore 74 M - Farmer - 300 Va - L Moore 54 F - - - - N C - L H Moore 21 M - F L - - Miss - E A Moore 14 F - - - - Miss - C J Moore 12 M - - - - Miss - C Moore 10 F - - - - Miss Jeptha Moore born about 1776, married Lucy Jones on 19 Dec 1822 in Giles County near Richmond Creek, Tennessee, 8 miles north of Putusky. 3. 20NOV07 MY DEAR MR. T; List; Anything that you might have about the *MONTGOMERY/ STEPHENSON* Connection would be greatly appreciated. We have seen STEPHENSON with our' MONTGOMERY across "the CAROLINIAS", "east TENN" to "GILES, TN and beyond. We have seen these two families down in "LIMESTONE County, ALABAMA", and then in-[what became] - the "TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA" areas. Later on even out West in-[what became]-MONTGOMERY County, TEXAS!!! "Roots must run deep" ehhhh??? THANKS & GOD BLESS BA- In North GA!! (1)- JAMES MONTGOMERY- (2)- CAPT.SAMUEL MONTGOMERY-(b.PA-circa-1730-1808)-[GEN.MARTIN ARMSTRONG'S-"SURVEYOR CORPS"]!! Both were in "GILES/ MAURY, TN-(before-1807), all three families were neighbors with "STEPHENSON'S"!!! Tracking MONTGOMERY/ STEPHENSON/BROWN/CLEMENTS/FOSTER, amongst others. From: Tommy Stephenson [mailto:tdstepen@peoplescom.net] Sent: Monday, November 12, 2007 1:45 AM To: Ayers, B. J. Subject: Stephenson and Armstrong B.J. Old John Stephenson of Bullock Creek in York had a son named John and as far as I can tell he probably lived and died in York County,S.C. His son James M. Stephenson left a will in York Co,S.C. in the 1840's and his father John Stephenson was mentioned. I think James Montgomery might have belonged to the Montgomery families in Chester or Lancaster Co,S.C. Lately, I have seen some messages for Chester or Lancaster County,S.C. asking about Montgomerys and there seems to be some information on the Montgomery's there. Not all the Stephensons came down the Old Wagon Road from Virginia and North Carolina to South Carolina. There were five ship loads of people that sailed from County Antrim,Ireland to the port of Charleston South Carolina in 1773. Among them were some Stephensons that settled mainly in the county of Chester. Some of the other settled in the counties of Lancaster,York, and Fairfield. The true spelling of their name was Stephenson, but they went by Stinson which is the Scottish vernacular for Stephenson. There was a John Stephenson in early in Lancaster Co,S.C. I don't know much about him,but a James White Stephenson taught school in Lancaster Co,S.C.,in the Waxhaws,as they call it. Andrew Jackson was one of his pupils. James White Stephenson went on to the Williamburg District in South Carolina and became a preacher of a Presbyterian Congregation there. In 1803, James White Stephenson and his congregation which included Dickeys,Armstrongs,Dobbins, and others went to Maury Co,TN and started the Mt.Zion Baptist Church. The history of Mt. Zion Church has James White Stephenson and his congregation coming from Scotland to County Down Ireland. After coming to America he lived in Lancaster Co,PA before going to South Carolina. In 1748, a William Stephenson migrated from County,Antrim,Ireland to Pennsylvania to join his Mother, where she lived at the time with her new husband, a Mr. White who she had married in Ireland. By the 1760's, William Stephenson, who had changed his name to Stevenson and went to Iredell Co,N.C. The book on him claims that he had a brother John Stephenson who went to South Carolina. The book also claims,as I have mentioned the Stephensons,Stevensons,Stinsons, in the counties of Chester,Lancaster,York, and fairfield were related. This William Stevenson had a large family and had many descendents. We don't know for sure, but we think that my John Stephenson was the John Stephenson and Jane James who sold out to a William Ramsey in Old Augusta Co,VA,now Rockbridge in 1752. John Stephenson seems to have lived for a long while in York Co,S.C. before he sought title to his land in 1764. It seems to be a fact that one David Stephenson, who lived in Old Augusta Co,VA,settled on Turkey Creek in York Co,S.C,not far from my John Stephenson on Bullock Creek. I am 62 years old and have studied various Stephenson families most of my life. I have all the books on the early Stephensons. The only Montgomery,as far as, I can tell, was connected to my Stephensons in York Co,S.C. Baptized at the Tinkling Springs Presbyterian Church in Old Augusta Co,VA: John Stephenson [father, sponsor] Thomas 1743 Mary 1745 John 1748 David Stephenson [father, sponsor] William 1740 Mary 1742 David 1746 David 1748 B.J. Check the lists of names of the people who were on board the ships with the Stephensons,Stevensons,Stinsons of the Rev. William Party in 1773. There are Montgomerys. There was a David,Hugh,Robert, and John Montgomery that I saw under "The Lists" http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~merle/Rm/index.htm
