He is my paternal Grandfather, William Henry Mason, brother. I'm not sure where Uncle Carlos grew up; it could be Morgan County or Limestone County Alabama (or any place really; we don't know much). I do know Uncle Carlos lived in Ardmore, Giles County, Tennessee with his wife Peggy. I don't know Peggy's maiden name. As a little girl we would visit them often on their small farm. Carlos and Peggy had 3 children Hoyt (or Hoytt), Terry, and Barbara. Uncle Carlos passed away in December 1980 and Peggy and the children may have passed away as well. Will take a closer look when I have more time. There are several Williams - do you have a first name for the Williams? I didn't see but a few Terry's in the 1880 census and only one, Thadeus Terry in Dist 15, in that part of the county (nor did I find Thadeus on the landowner map). The overlap of the sheets isn't exact so I may have missed them. That area, the northeast part of the county, is adjacent to Maury Co. and Marshall Co. A chunk of the NE portion of Giles adjacent to the area you mentioned was moved into Marshall Co. in 1871, so you might try there.
