    3. I know it is 2:15am and I could really be tired and not thinking straight, but in the book "RACKLEY a southern colonial family" I get lost from page 106-108. I am trying to verify Daniel Franklin RACKLEY's parents. Daniel is listed as #6 under what looks like Arthur Hubert RACKLEY; however, there is already a 6&7 listed on the previous page. Is it just my lack of sleep? Could anyone explain this to me? Thank you, Paula V. Rackley

    1. [TNGILES-L] Constantine Smith Beard
    2. Vikki Highfield
    3. I am seeking information about the parents of my great-grandfather, Constantine SMITH BEARD, b. 8 Nov. 1825. His wife was named Ellen (Eleanor). They married about 1850/1852, probably in Giles Co. Their children were Mary (Mollie) E., b. 1853, William C., James E., Joanna, Winnie, Francis Marion, Charles Ed, Sally, and Tisha. He could have been born in SC. In a RW pension application I read, there was a mention of a brother, who lived in Giles Co., possibly the father of Constantine. vhhighfi@gte.net http://www.geocities.com/heartland/ridge/3462/

    1. [TNGILES-L] (POTEET/HORNE)
    2. I would like to share with anyone researching POTEET/HORNE in Franklin Co & Lauderdale Co AL, Giles & Lawrence Co TN, NE MS, and early NC. I have made notes on a variety of records for AL and NC which I will share with anyone who is interested in these and allied families. I am trying to connect them together. My maternal ancestors are: John HORNE b: NC d: bef 1850 TN who married 1827 Lauderdale Co AL, Nancy POTEET b: 1794 NC (probably BuncumbeCo). Nancy Poteet and children lived in Lawrence Co TN 1850, then Giles Co TN, and by 1870 in N.E. MS (Prentiss Co?). What happened to her after that? Their daughter Elizabeth HORNE married Wm P. CRABB, son of Joseph. Some allied families are descendants of Wm ROGERS, Wm P. CRABB, Wm and Cinderella MANCIL. Nancy Poteet's father may have been John or Edward POTEET. Hornes and Poteets were also in Franklin/Wilcox Co AL as early as 1820. Please share any little tidbit you know about these families. Brenda Barfield

    3. Sorry if this has been asked before & I just missed it. But, I was poking thru the new SMITH listings that you just put up (thank you for putting those up!!!) & noticed a few more of mine there at Maplewood. Does anyone know if there are records there at Maplewood that I can write off & request? I had written to the state about Emma Smith who died in 1920. They don't have a death record for her. Are there some sort of interment records at Maplewood? Thanks for any help!! Terri Hardiman-Black black@globe.com

    1. [TNGILES-L] Brashears / Brownlow / Allen
    2. Hi all, I am new to the Giles list. My ggrandfather was Henry N. Brashears born circa 1845 in Lawrence Cty. He married (first) in 1869 to M.A. Brownlow in Giles Cty. His second marriage was to Sara Allen circa 1887 possibly Giles. M.A. Brownlow passed away between the early 1880-s and mid 1880's. I would like to locate her death records, and if possible the marriage record for Sara and Henry. Was there an Allen family located in Giles at this time? Also, my ggrandmother tells me Henry was in the Civil War and fought for the Confederacy. To date I have not been able to verify this. Any and all help appreciated. tia, Sheri
