Thought you guys might be interested in this piece of information. Jan in Arizona Dear CORNISH-L subscribers, I have been informed that beginning March 1st, the LDS church has decided to release Family Search to the internet for a 3 week trial basis at: http://www.familysearch.org They would like everyone to try it out and respond! I'm not certain exactly how it will be laid out. May only start with a few of the programs...but it's a start! I hope it won't get out of hand. Best regards, John
Hello to all, Recently started tracing my ancestors. My parents came from Giles cnty. On my mothers side, Jernigans, they were from the Goodsprings, and early memories of them on Shannon Creek. My grandfathers first name was Maude. On my father side, very little information is known. And this is where I'm really concentrating on. Anyone out there that can provide any information on the Carpenter/Jernigan clan from Giles county, I would appreciate it very much. I am Charles W. Carpenter, son of Forrest Carpenter / Clara Jernigan. Thank you, Sincerely, Charlie Carpenter

Hi Gang, Todays update includes: Cemetery listings of Willisma, Yor, Tennery Dave www.rootsweb.com/~tngiles/ icq#4202467
Thanks for your response, Julia: 1. I understand about the microfilm. I get cross-eyed after an hour or two. Do you know whether these films are available on inter-library loan? I have a microfilm reader at home and would like to order them if possible. 2. I am interested in your husband's CARDEN relatives who married Birdsong. I have a lot of CARDEN/CARDIN information and may be able to place them. 2. Is your husband's J.L. CARDIN the one who married Ann WATSON and had Lori and Lee both born before 1893, or James Lewis CARDIN (1859-1940 Giles Co) who md (1) Lenora Ann ABERNATHY AND (2) Lula GOLIGHTLY in 1890? 3. James Valentine HUFF who married the MINATREE was the son of Sterling HUFF (1811-1855 Giles Co,)- son of Valentine HUFF, Jr. (abt 1774 VA-1825 Giles Co) who md. (1) Jemimah HUGHES and (2) Rebecca JACKSON, - son of Valentine HUFF, Sr. who d abt 1801 Rowan Co., NC. I would very much like to have a copy of THE MINATREE FAMILY. I will be very happy to pay all copying and postage costs on whatever you may be able to send me. If you will e-mail me privately, I will send you a check in advance by snail mail. I, of course, will share any information you might be interested in. TIA. Marilyn K. Hare wrote to the list about the Brownlow history. I don't know what connection, if any, we have to the Brownlow family, but perhaps someone out there can tell me. I have a copy of a photo that was included in "The Minitrees of Virginia" that I got from the Giles Historical Society. The photo is labelled "Perhaps Brownlow, Grandad David Minatra perhaps made in Tenn." Both men have beards, one quite grey. David, born in 1795-6, was in Giles County as early as the 1820s when his children were born there. Does anyone on the list have a connection? Julia SAVAGE MINATRA Rutherford Co. TN
