Hello List Members, Thought I would post this new info that a very nice person sent to me in high hopes that maybe someone can shed some light on one of my many brick walls. My great-grandfather Daniel Long married Sarah J. Johnson on Oct. 15, 1882 in Giles Co. I know they had at least 3 son's, Wilson, Wesley, and Ezra. I have a date of birth for Wilson Long, born Apr. 5, 1892, and I have a date of birth for Ezra Long, born May 7, 1881. Ezra died on Mar.18, 1965 and is buried in Booth Chapel. He married Maggie Simpson Long. This is all the info I have on Ezra Long. Does anyone know of this person, anything at all that may be able to help me fill in a few blanks on my LONG family ? Does anyone know anything about a Wesley Long that married Florence Rose Green in 1920 in Giles co. ? What about a James Frank Randolph who married a Martha Stafford ? I know there were several sets of LONG's and RANDOLPH's in Giles co. but somewhere down the line there has to be a connection somewhere, right ? My great grandfather, Daniel Long was born abt. 1856, he was found on the 1910 census of LIMESTONE co. AL, at the time of the census, he was 54, and beside his age is the words married 1 time, 27 years. Does that mean he was married once before or does that mean he has been married for 27 years ? Sarah J. was listed as 58, so she was born abt. 1852. I still have no info on her at all. Wilson was listed as 18, thats about right, because he was born in 1892. Wilson Long married Emma L. Randolph, daughter of James Frank Randolph and Martha Stafford in 1910, Giles co. I have no info on the rest of the children of Daniel Long or James Frank Randolph at this time. Any help whatsoever would be very much appreciated. Respectfully: Robbie
Hello Ed, Hello Listers, Thanks Ed for setting us straight in plain words about somewhat the cause of the problem here. I think if the truth had been out in the first place and Mr Smoot/Smith and whatever else name he is or will conjure to use, would be history bounced by now like the Pirates on the sea. NO we will not stand for such as this person on any sites that and so good and great as Dave's nor for them to take from us what isn't theirs to pirate. We all LOVE you Dave and give you the support you deserve. and will give you the Goldest Ribbon made for your contribution to Internet Genealogy on a great site like TNGILES-L@rootsweb.com. . So now don't anyone try to pirate or else they will have all of us like a swarm of KILLER BEES after him.. her whatever they may claim to be????? Keep up the Great job and we all Love you Dave. and the great work you do and all the time you have donated free. Lets now see how many BLACK BALLS can go out to Mr Smoot/Smith whatever.?? I lost track of the support messages for Dave but they are still coming and for Good Reason. Get them Black Balls rolling and knock all the bad pins down. Thanks again Ed. Mr Smoot is not to be trusted. Our project is called UsGenWeb...Mr Smoot incorporates under UsGenNet. Similar names aren't they? The Tennessee project is called TnGenWeb....Mr Smoot incorporated TnGenNet. Similar again isn't it? Mr Smoot ran and lost the election for National Coordinator of the UsGenWeb Project. He protested the election and has since been trying to take over, not only Dave's page, but the whole project. Dave has put in tons of work here and has given us all a great place to do Giles research. I for one would think long and hard before supporting or contributing to any organization with Mr. Smoot at the wheel. Dave and listers, I have read the message from now am told of a ficticious name. I remember being told some time back that there was a change in TnGiles operator etc. I feel bad about this controversay but worse due to the so called underhanded whatever that caused this to happen. I don't think it right to pirate messages from one list to another. I think Dave has done a great job . I will not allow any thing I posted to the TnGiles list since I have known and been on it to be removed by anyone for any purpose as such mentioned to another site. I thought PIRATES were in 1600's on the high seas and not here in America today. I will be watching and if I see any of my postings apearing in the new list without my written permission I will do something about it. This type of thing is not good as we have enough of Web sites etc pirating our research and selling it on CD's etc. Don't let it happen to our site. Imagine a person lieing to get even or what they want or ??? Do not remove my postings to another List. Please. Lets all give Dave Worsham a big hand that he deserves!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck Dave.. Anyone else out there want to say their piece??? Let's get it over and go on to our purpose of Genealogy. We don't need what has gone on any more. Have two separate sites and go on with life. Fred is the State Coordinator for the TnGenWeb project. And it is because of his underhandedness and tactics that I left the TnGenWeb project. Please note that I do not support, nor do I wish to work with, Fred Smoot, Sarah Smith or any other name he wishes to use. Looking at Fred's new Giles page, I believe he plans to copy all our files and place them on his new site in a hostile takeover attempt. I have told him that he does NOT have my permission to copy any of the files that we have loaded to tngiles. So he may contact each of you and ask for your permission to do so. You can give him permission to do so if you wish. I apologize for putting you through all of this. It sure isn't in the interest of genealogy. Hello! I had two great uncles that died fairly young but still at a reasonable age to have married and had children. I never found record of their marriages yet. But in Giles Co, TN Marriages 1865--1954 there are two possible matches. They are my uncles' names and would be the right ages. Does anyone have any info at all on these ladies and/or their descendants? Joe C. Hastings married Oma White July 30, 1920. John William married Katie May Neal Feb. 21, 1913. Thank you! C. Prater
Hi! Received your message that you have the Tennessee marriage cd index-1851-1900. Would you please look up the following (my great-grandparents' marriage). Their names are: John O'Malley Martha Jane Brewer. She was born on 1/13/1841, so I figure she must have gotten married sometime between 1858 - 1863. I'd appreciate it if you could look this up. Another question: Where did you get this CD? Does it have any other information on it besides dates? Thank you very much. Mary in Michigan.
