    2. Re: Robbie's question about the above book... There is a booklet, "Early History of Giles County", A Brief Sketch of the Settlement and Early History of Giles County, Tennessee, compiled by James McCallum in 1876. It was published by the Pulaski Citizen in Pulaski, TN, and reprinted in 1997, so they probably still have some copies. If you want me to look up any names, e-mail me at YLQuilter@aol.com. 1. [TNGILES-L] CROWDER - some new info
    2. Janis Gilmore
    3. I have recently connected with a family member who is in possession of the notes made by the great granddaughter of Robert CROWDER, b 1778 Laurens Co SC. She remembers her grandparents quite well, Bluford A. CROWDER (son of Robert) and Jane Eveline TIDWELL. In fact, her parents assumed responsibility for their homestead, and they lived with her family throughout childhood. While she does not shed further light on Robert CROWDER or his wife(s), she certainly had additional info regarding the lives of Bluford and his wife. Additionally, I have quite by accident found the son of John CROWDER (b 1806 - an older son of Robert) in Howell Co MO, and can offer census data and other details of his life to anyone who is interested in the John CROWDER branch. This son is John W. CROWDER, b May 1847 TN. I would like to establish whether Robert CROWDER was married once or twice, and whether John CROWDER (1806) is a full or half brother to Bluford A. CROWDER (1825 TN). My website (which does not contain the new info - haven't gotten around to it yet) www.elijahwalker.com My other Giles Co TN lines: RACKLEY, TIDWELL Janis Walker Gilmore jlgilmore@earthlink.net

    1. [TNGILES-L] RACKLEY
    2. Paula
    3. I have added my RACKLEY information to my Web site at: http://www.webracks.com/paula/genealogy/ Here is an exerpt of that part of my site: RACKLEY is my husband's line. Dan and I were married May 30, 1998. So far all I have on this name is a handwritten note passed to my father-in-law after a family reunion a few years ago. I am not sure how accurate it is, and he was given no documentation. I would like to document this lineage and find any interesting stories that might be out there about the line. If you have any input or want to post any queries, please let me know. I have really slacked off in my research, but it wouldn't take much to get me started again. Here is the line exactly as it appears on the note. I have compared it to "RACKLEY- A Southern Colonial Family" by Potter and Rackley...some of the spellings appear to be wrong, but I will begin by posting it verbatim You may also view this note online. I have scanned it in because the layout of the note may give clues to the meaning of the line. Please take a look and let me know what it tells you. Edward Rackley - patented 400 acres - April 21 1657 John Rackley - 1648-50 - 1698 John II 1670 - 1738 John Rackley III 1769-1769 Passion Rackley - 1730-1814 Frederick Rackley - 1760-1827 Born in N.C. They had one child, Henry Francis (Frank) Miller. She is next found in DeKalb Co., AL 1860 a widow, living with her parents Samuel and Mary Stout. By 1870 she is living in Giles Co., TN with her mother, still listed as a widow. 1867 in Giles Co., TN her child, Hannah J. HENRY married W. H. POWERS - then in 1870 her last child, Henry F. Miller married Mary S. FRAZIER. Does anyone have this family in their data base -- if so, I would love to hear from you. Kathleen Burnett
