Several years ago while in Giles County, TN, I purchase "GILES COUNTY CHANCERY COURT, Vol II, Woodruff Files H thru L 1830 - 1900" booklet compiled by Elizabeth W. White. I would like to purchase Vol I, Files A thru G. Can anyone give me the address to write for a copy? Thanks. I think the people on this site are so helpful. I received some info today that I had been searching for 15 years. The internet is so great and people are so helpful. Margaret W. Chambers
Can someone please help me with a Samuel Randolph that was born possibly in Giles co. in 1879 ? He was listed as being one of the children of James F. Randolph. Apparently, James F. Randolph was married once before to a Martha Randolph, his second wife was a Martha Stafford. Any and all help would be appreciated. Robbie

Virginia, Do you think that the John Gordon who witnessed the Harrison Burgess will could have been John Gordon, Major b. August 08, 1798 in Kentucky, d. September 30, 1890 in Giles Co., Tennessee? He had a son, John C. Gordon but I don't know much about him. Sorry I don't have any Burgess surnames as yet. Would anyone have any info on any of the following - JENNIE CRITTENDON who marr. JAMES CLEM 2-11-1881 in Giles Co. Tn. MARGARET CASSANDRA PHILLIPS b.9-15-1855 and married ATLAS M. REEVES in 2-26-1874. She died 9-21-1878 leaving two children Hugh M. and Georgia Cassandra. Thanks Pam boan@mciworld.com
Here's what I have: (I'll try not to confuse you...) David Richard BELLEW m. Mary Jane POTTER 23 Dec 1868 in Giles County, TN. D. Richard's sister, Lucy Bellew JOHNS married W. G. RUTHERFORD in Giles County in 1873. Her first husband William Carrol JOHNS was killed in the Civil War in Oct 1866 and a son, B. Melvin JOHNS was born Nov 1866. Lucy & W. G. had children, Griffin, b. 1875, Mary C., born 1881, a third child, name and b.d. unknown. Griffin I. Rutherford and I. J. POLLEY (?) were married in Giles County by JP Oscar HARVELL/HARWELL in 1896. James Dall HARVILL/HARVEL married (1) Loretta POTTER (sis. of Mary Jane) (2) sis. of Mary Jane and Loretta - her name is unknown. James Dall and wife #1 had children Vida (b. 1881), Alonzo, Lula, Ella, and Della. Children with wife #2 are Oscar, Tom, John Bud, and Daisy. James, Loretta and (sis. name unknown) all died young and some of their children were raised by Richard and Mary Jane BELLEW in Logan County, AR and Creek Territory, OK. Since there was a child named Oscar, probably born c. 1890, there must have been other "Oscar" names in the earlier Harvel/Harwell/Harvil families. HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS??? Was W. G. Rutherford named William Griffin? Is this Griffin I.(Iredell/Irdell?) Rutherford that married I. (Ida?) J. POLLEY the son of W. G. Rutherford? Which is correct: I. J. POLLEY or I. J. HOLLY? (I found it recorded both ways.) Was Oscar HARWELL/HARVELL - (Justice of the Peace in Giles County, TN 1896) related to this family?
Oscar HARWELL/HARVELL was a JP in Giles County, TN in 1896. He married G. I. Rutherford and I. J. Polley/Holly (???) on 15 November 1896. Was G. I. the son of William G. and Lucy Bellew Rutherford? I am looking for info on the family of Oscar Harwell/Harvell, trying to find the connection between Harvells and Rutherfords. Any ideas? Researching: HARVELL, RUTHERFORD, POTTER, BELLEW

Sorry, Folks. I think I should clean off my desk. Someone sent me the 1870 Census last Friday. It's the 1880 that I need. This family will be the death of my brain cells! A frazzled Ginny
Everyone has been so nice about my census lookups, I wonder if I could ask someone to lookup the entry for William R. Grigsby and his family in the 1870 Census. I don't have an index for 1870 but would like to know if he shows up in Giles County and who is still at home with him. Thanking in advance. Ginny
Looking for information on Ernest P Phillips and wife, Donia I believe them to be buried in Pettusville Cemetery somewhere near Pulaski, TN. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks virginia
