    3. It is POSSIBLE but unlikely that you can find details of his death. The Confederate Army, particularly the Army of Tennessee, was notoroiusly poor at record keepng, and even some of those which were kept were destroyed during and in the immediate aftermath of the war. Nevertheless, there is a microfilm, the number of which I don't have, which is available from the National Archives, which has in it all known Confederate casualty lists. It is organized by casualty lists from each battle. There is no index, and it is pretty long. If there's a chance, though, of finding him, that might be the way. To narrow down your search, read a unit history of his particular regiment, and find out the battles they were involved in. Then, check the microfilm, beginning with casualty lists from those battles. You can probably identify the microfilm number by searching the National Archives website, and you can order a copy through your local library through interlibrary loan. 1. [TNGILES-L] NICHOLAS'
    2. Hello, I'm wondering if someone might have access to an 1870 Giles Co., Tenn. census. I'm looking for a Thomas Nicholas. His name could be J. Thomas Nicholas. He had a son by the name of Columbus Nicholas born about 1855. I think he had a sister named Roma Catherine Nicholas who was born August 1859. Roma did marry Newton Curbo who was the son of James L. and Minerva Elizabeth Curbo. I also believe that Thomas had a son by the name of John T. Nicholas born 1862. I was told by my father-in-law that John T. Nicholas said that he came to Texas when he was 11 which would have been 1873. I'm trying to find out all I can on Thomas, Columbus, Roma, and John T. Nicholas. Some of this family ended up in Rusk Co., Texas. Thanks in advance for any help:) Rhonda
