She remembers her grandmother Eunise and her grandmohers siblings Houston "Babe" Cox , and Selena Cox. She also says she remembers the name Rolly. She said that Jess was Babe's (Houston's) father and that he is buried in Peerless cemetery. Our family still lives in Posey, the neighboring community to Peerless (approx 5 mins from each other). She also said that Jess's brother was Lonzo who married Annie Mae Beadles. Lonzo and Annie Mae had at least two children that I know of Charlene and Eddie. Both Charlene and Eddie were my next door neighbors. Eddie still lives in Posey. I also know the descendants of Eunise Cox and alot of the descendants of Houston "Babe" Cox. Many of whom are still in the Hopkins County TX area: Sulphur Springs, Posey, Birthright, and Peerless. To Warren researchers. Some of you may be familiar with the wonderful book Dr. Warren Holland, PhD., wrote about our shared Warren family. His only son is spending his first Christmas with Jesus. You may want to send a note to Dr. Holland. Norma Kirchhofer is a Master Warren researcher in my mind . She sent me this sad note. Warren's will By the way I got a email a few days ago from Dr. Holland and he told me his only son died of a Massive Heart Attack in August of this year. I sent them a card today, he was only 58 years old and had never been married. You know he only had 3 children one boy and 2 girls. I was told these were recorded during the census taking by asking had anyone in the household died in the previous year to the 1860 census. One death caught my attention; Ida A Perry age 3 years died of Scarlett fever Nov 1859. This may fit one of the lines I am working on, however I can't determine who the parents of this child are from the census. We are looking for the Parents of Charles A. Perry and his brothers Alexander and Jesse. They reportedly had one sister that died young. Charles named his first daughter Ida A. Perry. As always any help appreciated. John
Does anyone have information about the Blue family of Giles County, and later of Limestone County, Alabama? Dounglas Blue and his son, Moses H. Blue resided in Giles County from about 1808 to 1816, when hey moved just across the state line into Limestone County, Alabama. Douglas appears in Giles County Court minutes, frequently, during this time period, and was a Constable, and a Road Overseer, among other things. Moses H. Blue probably married there (wife's name unknown). His second wife was Drucilla (possibly a Sexton, Robinson or Gutherie). I have accumulated a lot of information, but have never been able to determine his first wife's name or his second wife Drucilla's last name. The Court House fire has made research difficult, and I am hoping some of his descendents remain in the area and have knowledge or records about the family. Many thanks. RKC

Looking for info and hopefully contact with the family of Edgar Allen? McKAY b abt 1917, of Pulaski, TN in his sister's (Mary Ruth McKAY OGDEN) obituary of 1986. They were the ch of: William Edgar McKAY b abt 1881 and Mary Ann CLAGETT abt 1882-1927. The CLAGETT's and OLIVER's lived in Hickman Co, TN. I understand that John Clifton OGDEN, Jr d 1988 and Mary Ruth McKAY d 1986, who were m in 1926, had 2 sons: John Clifton OGDEN, III who may have lived in Columbia, TN and William David OGDEN who may have lived in Homestead, FL abt the time their parents died (1986 & 1988). I am trying to locate any living descendants as they are OLIVER cousins of my husband and I am compiling the descendants of Capt John A OLIVER CSA b abt 1818 SC?, d 1862. Capt John lived in Hickman Co, TN. John's parents may have been James OLIVER and Mary or Nancy from SC and they may have lived in Maury Co, TN. James may have been married twice and one wife may have been a HUNTER. Most grateful for any additions, corrections, or help. Janice

My only connection- that I have not found any information about is ; ***** John FREEMAN Abernathy born Oct 1, 1868 MS. Died July 19, 1931 Florence AL. Buried in Florence City Cem. Lauderdale Co AL. John never married. His parents were my great grandparents, Henry M.C. Abernathy and Alcy "Caroline" Graves, dau of Campbell Graves and his unknown to me first wife who died shortly before 1850 Giles Co TN census. Henry was son of Matthew Abernathy and Elizabeth Jackson [Eliza J.] Dickson. Henry and Caroline lived just a few months in MS. They lived in Giles Co and Lauderdale Co AL , back and forth, as the custom seemed to be for many of my lines. When John's mother, Caroline [Graves] Abernathy died in Florence while living with John, he removed her body to Bethel, TN for burial. That suggests to me that Henry was also buried there. Henry was in 1880 census, no 1890 census, Caroline was a widow in 1900 census. There are no tombstones in Bethel, TN for either Henry or Caroline that I know of. I have no idea of the connection of my family to the Freeman family to allow them to name a son Freeman. Anyone know? Ginny Keefer 7. The Heritage Book of Rowan County, NC, Vol. I, 1991 The Freeman Family John Freeman Sr. and his brother, William Freeman arrived in Massachusetts, on the ship, Abigail, in 1635 from Devonshire in England. John Freeman married Mercy Brewster Prence, who was the daughter of Patience Prence and Thomas Prence.. Patience was a daughter of Elder William Brewster [1567-1644]. They came to America on the Mayflower. Patience Brewster and Thomas Prence married 5 Aug. 1624 at Plymouth, MA.Their son, John Freeman, born between 1640 and 1650, left Massachusetts and went to Virginia and then to Albemarle County, North Carolina. He died intestate after 1722 in Albemarle. William Freeman, a son of John Freeman, was born ca 1670 in Virginia. He moved to Chowan, NC and on July 1st, 1716, purchased 250 acres on the south side of Katherine Creek Swamp. William Freeman of the County of Albemarle and Precinct of Chowan in North Carolina, stated in his will dated Feb. 7, 1736, probated Aug. 13, 1737, that his wife was Mary Freeman, sons; Aaron and Samuel, Thomas and Richard. His sons; Aaron and Samuel Freeman were willed 640 acres of land in Bertie Precinct. John Freeman was a noted planter of Bertie County, NC. He was born ca 1710 and died in May 1785. He was married twice, first to Tabitha ___ and second to Sarah Winborne, whose former husbands were Henry Winborne and Isme Pascoe. John Freeman's will was made on December 7, 1782 in Bertie County, NC. In it he names a daughter, Elizabeth Baker [wife of James Baker] and his five sons; Solomon, Elisha, John, Moses and Aaron. All of his children were by his first wife. Aaron Freeman, son of John Freeman of Bertie County, NC, lived in Rowan County, NC for many years. From early records it appears that Aaron had come to Rowan County with his brother, John Freeman, who had received a land grant for 200 acres from Earl Granville on May 3rd, 1763. The land was located on the main fork of the Yadkin River some twenty miles from the present city of Salisbury. John died before Feb. 5, 1772 with Robert Barkley appointed as administrator. The estate was settled by May 4, 1774. Aaron Freeman married Mary Bentley in Rowan County, NC on Dec. 17, 1769. Mary was also a child of a wealthy planter. Her father was Thomas Bentley, a Revolutionary War soldier, who had moved to the western Piedmont section of North Carolina from Virginia. Aaron was a patriot and Revolutionary War soldier also. Aaron and Mary Freeman had five known sons; Joshua, Thomas, Jesse, Aaron Jr., and Rev. Moses Freeman and several daughters. Aaron was granted a Tavern License according to Rowan Court minutes of May 3, 1774. This was in the forks of the Yadkin, currently Davie County, NC. Aaron Freeman lived in Wilkes County for a time. According to Wilkes County deeds, Aaron purchased 200 acres on Oct. 28, 1782, on Little River, Beaver Dam Branch, North side of Forks of Yadkin. There are three deeds selling this property. On Jan 26, 1795, Aaron Freeman of Iredell County sold 175 acres to Isaac Elledge. Aaron and his sons; Joshua and Moses, are listed on the 1800 Land Tax list. Aaron had two houses, barn, and still house on 150 acres. Joshua had a house on 50 acres. Moses had a house on 100 acres. In Iredell County, Book A, Hugh Campbell sold to Joseph Harrison 100 acres on the main branch South Yadkin, part of 300 acres granted Oct. 8, 1784 adj. Archibald Wasson and Aaron Freeman, who bought the other 200 acres on Mar. 20, 1790. On Dec. 23, 1790, Aaron Freeman witnessed in court. On Nov. 27, 1793, James McCollum bought 100 acres from the state on South Yadkin River adj. Aaron Freeman. On Feb. 15, 1796, Aaron Freeman sold to Joshua, 50 acres, part of the original 200 acres belonging to Hugh Campbell. Aaron Freeman and Solomon Davis witnessed for 50 acres on a small head branch of South Yadkin on Nov. 3, 1795. Aaron then moved to Buncombe County. He received 75 acres on a ridge between Sandy Mush Creek and Turkey Creek from his son, Joshua Freeman on Oct. 18, 1803. Aaron Freeman and his wife appear in the 1810 Buncombe census and appear last in the 1820 Federal census in Buncombe County, NC. He was an Indian Agent during the time he lived in Buncombe County, dispersing tracts of land to a number of Indian families. By 1850, only his sons, Moses Freeman, aged 76, and Thomas Freeman, age 73, remained in Buncombe County, NC. Moses Freeman was born of Sept. 14, 1774 in Wilkes County, NC, the son of Aaron Freeman and Mary Bentley Freeman. He joined the Baptist Church at Little River, Burke County, NC and was baptized by Wm. Dodson. He moved to Buncombe County in 1806. In 1807, he preached a notable sermon at B. Gregory's from the 11th Chapter of John, 44th verse. Then he moved to his membership to Little Ivy in 1812, and was ordained to the office of the ministry on Aug.. 8th, 1812, by Elders Thomas Snelson and Stephen Morgan. In 1818, he joined the Bull Creek Baptist Church as a charter member. In 1834, he joined the Walnut Creek Church and in 1852, he moved his membership to Bear Creek Church where he remained until his death in 1859. During his life as a minister, Rev. Moses Freeman pastored a total of 13 Churches. He died Jan. 18, 1859. In 1860, the Newfound Baptist Church Association Minutes featured a unique and beautifully written obituary. Some of follows; "He was always most esteemed by those who heard them oftenest, and his stated hearers, rarely, if ever, wished to exchange the voice of their pastor for that of a stranger. His address was such as his sincerity." Moses Freeman married Fanny Ball, daughter of William and Temperance Forkner Ball. William was a son of Daniel Ball I, of Virginia and Granville County, NC. The children of Moses and Fanny were; Green Hill Freeman [1794-1867] md Nancy Shields, Moses Freeman Jr. [1796- ] md Betty Ramsey, Tabitha Freeman [1797- ] md John Jackson Rees, Alcey Freeman [ 1799- ] md William Blackwell, Lydia Freeman [1800- ] md Joshua Roberts of Flat Creek, Mary Jane Freeman [1801- Feb. 188-] md Rev. William Rees [1800-1863], William Freeman [1805] md Anne Cathey, Elisha Freeman [ 1809] md Rebecca ___, Susan Freeman [1811] md William Henderson. After the death of Fanny, Moses married on Dec. 28, 1845 at the age of 72, Elizabeth Jarvis Ball, the widow of Joel Ball [Fanny's brother]. Elizabeth was the daughter of Jabez Jarvis Jr. It is of interest to note that Thomas Freeman, brother of Moses, married Mary Ball, another child of William Ball.
