I'm interested in the photograph of Fate Tate as well as the Hastings photographs. I have a photograph of a house in Waxahachie, TX with several unknown people in it. It was found among the possessions of Martha (Mattie) Hastings Rochelle George Mattie was the daughter of Joseph Hastings and Angeline Poor. I had been trying to identify which relatives in the Waxahachie area Mattie might have been in the photograph. It had not occurred to me to look at the Tate family. Thanks. Fate Tate married the widow of Peter Hastings (aka Hasting or Hasten). Peter was a brother to Joseph G. Hastings aka Hasting. The little girl named Ollie - are you certain it was a girl; that is, could it perhaps be a picture of a young boy (not yet fully potty trained) who was still wearing a dress? Joseph G. Hastings and Angeline Poor had a grandson named Ollie. Ollie grew up in Texas but during a trip to visit relatives in Giles Co., TN he met and eventually married Nettie Jessie Birdsong. After reviewing my records, it appears that the George Hastings in the photograph was the son of Joseph G. Hastings (aka Joseph G. Hasting) and Angeline Poor (aka Poore). This particular George Hastings married May Day Dunnavant. They moved to Dallas Co., TX. George was a farmer. George died in 1958; MayDay died 5-18-1974. They are buried side by side in the Trinity Cemetery at Wilmer. They had four children. They have living descendants; I've spoken with a few of their descendants. Unfortunately, the g-grandchildren I've manage to locate barely knew George and MayDay's names and they did not have a clue about how to find other relatives. I'm curious about the other Hastings who appeared in the photographs you have. Would you mind sharing that information with me? Ruth

On March 10, 1849, Alexander appeared before Maury Co TN County Clerk as the guardian of his four children; Martin V., Aisley J., Nancy A., and Elmira J. Graves, minor children of his and heirs of Nancy White, deceased. He later renewed this guardianship for two more years. He remarried and had 5 more children as shown in Giles Co TN census in 1850 and 1860/ They lived in Campbellsville Twp. Giles Co in 1850 and in Culleoka Twp. in 1860. He was a farmer. All of his children were born in TN. I have added several family lines together in this message as so many families are intermarried, it may help someone where they least expect to find it. Hi Amy and others interested, I am not related but your this family comes from same places mine did. Mine was William White b 10 Jan 1755 Fauquier Co [actually was still Prince William Co until 1759] VA, lived 30 years in old Rowan/later called Stokes Co NC, then moved to Lincoln Co TN where he died in May 1833. At beginning of the Civil War, William's married children located in Giles Co TN and later some in Athens, Limestone Co AL.
