I have been researching off and on the family of Nicholas Browning. I came across a marriage for a F. M. Browning and Elizabeth Longshore ? in Lauderdale County, Alabama on Sept. 20, 1864. I am thinking this is Francis Marion Browning, son of Viney Browning. I located Marion Browning and his wife, Elizabeth in Giles County in 1870: Marion Browning, w , m , 25 , Alabama Elizabeth, 32, Tennessee Susan, 13 , Tennessee ( who is she, too old to be their daughter ). Inas, 4 , Tennessee James , 3 , Tennessee Rebecca, 7 months, Tennessee I cannot seem to locate them in 1880. However in 1900 they are in Limestone County, Alabama, this time there is a Kissie Longshore listed as their niece, born Aug. 1881, she is 18, born in Tennessee. Living next door is their son, Claud ( e ) Browning and his family and next door to Claud (e) is his brother J. W. Browning and his family. Hardiman: Generation chart of John Thomas Hardiman. John Thomas Hardiman Pension Application. Photo of John Thomas Hardin Family. WPA History Record of Indian Pioneer William Elgin Hardiman. Many thanks to Joe for his contributions and interest in the Giles County web site. Please click on the "What's New" button on the Giles County home page (address below) for links to the above new pages. Thanks to those of you who have sent in their new email addresses. If I run across a link that does not work, I will remove it from the website. It is most frustrating to find reference to something we need, only to find the link does not work. So, if it doesn't work, it's gone! Regards, Anna Jackson CC Giles County http://www.rootsweb.com/~tngiles/

    1. Long , Johnson, & Simpson
    2. I have came across something tonight while looking on the census.... and I am somewhat puzzled... according to the 1910 census, Neal B. Simpson stated he had been married twice. Does anyone know who his first wife was ? I know his daughter Maggie married Cullum Harvey Long ( my Dad's first cousin ) and after Cullum died in 1953, and after Lou Ella Johnson Long ( Cullum's mother ) passed away, Maggie married her father in law, Ezra Long. I know Maggie had a son named Jackie. Ezra Long died in 1965. I do not know where Maggie and her son ended up. Neal Simpson's other daughter, Belle Donie Simpson married Van James Noah Johnson, my great grandmother's nephew. Any help on any of this would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance. 1. E-mail address change
    2. I have tried to send everyone an e-mail BUT some of you will probably be getting 2 or 3 notices as I found addresses listed differently as I was going through. I could not remember who I had already added and who I had not. There are some that I didn't recognize at all but thought they might be important. I have used the first part of my old address in hopes that others might find me as I have my address all over the Internet and in queries. My new address is [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) . Imogean M. McDonald

If you come south on 53 ( from Giles County ) you will see a Pizza Hut. Turn onto the road that runs behind it. You will run into Gatlin Road. It's been a while since I've been there but the cemetery is in that general area. Could your Lizzie could be Elizabeth? Another useful website is www.findagrave.com You can search by name, cemetery name, location, etc. They are adding new cemeteries almost daily. I didn't find them on there, but I would keep checking back. I wonder abt this Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore because it is very large and also just South of Giles County. I wish I could be of more help.
