Perhaps the following information will help you. John R. Welch, Jr. married Sarah C. Stone, d/o Jonathan and Felicia Cooke Stone on 14 October 1824 in North Carolina. Sarah Stone Welch was the sister of Susannah Stone who married Vincent Rust. Her brother, Claiborne Stone, married Mary Frances Rust on 4 April 1817 in Granville County NC. These people moved to Gibson, Carroll and Weakley counties. Vincent Rust, who first marketed tobacco on Weakley, was the nephew of John Rust born 1761/3 who moved first to Gibson then to Weakley. This John Rust married Sarah Pullen and their daughter, Martha, born 1813, married Herrol/Herrod P. Welch in Gibson in 1829 according to the information given me. I note that you have her name as Pruitt. The Rusts were closely connected to other family members in Maury County and I know that David Porter Hamilton, born 1792, died 1879 in Gibson County, married Sibella Griffin in Maury on 25 May 1820 before moving to Gibson. He was a descendant of George and Frances Brown Hamilton. Alexander G. Hamilton was his brother, both were sons of David Hamilton.
