    3. Thanks for your idea> the name Martha Patsey HURT comes up often wherever I read about the HURT family. MOre than likely, when all research is completed, we will find that many of the HURT's came from Virginia after England. ANyhow, my Hurt's (at least the ones I am researching) come from Texas, Mississippi, South Carolina and North Carolina. The Hurt family I mentioned in Gibson County in 1909, lived there only temporarily. They were John Hamilton HURT, his wife Henrietta Pugh HURT, son Pugh Hervey HURT and my grandmother, Olive French EURY (whose parents died when she was very young). John Hamilton HURT was "Ollie's" uncle--he was her guardian. They returned to Asheville, NC sometime after 1909. >>> [email protected] 01/11/04 11:28AM >>> I am wondering if your Gibson County Hurt family goes back to the Smith/DeKalb/Sumner Area of Tennessee??? I have a Baker family that was over in Smith Co TN early 1800's. Their daughter Mary Ann married John Luckey and several of their chidren ended up on the Madison/Gibson co border and still live there. This family had 2 other children that married Hurt's. I have often wondered if the Hurt's here are descendants of those in Smith Co. James Hurt m. Patsey (Martha) Baker Elizabeth Ann Hurt m. Morgan W. Baker- this family moved and lived in Dyer Co. Does any of this sound familiar?? I am working on a theory that my Luckey's moved with other family to the area early 1840's. These would have been first cousins.
