I have been researching my STUBBLEFIELD family listed here at my brick wall of finding the Unknown STUBBLEFIELD: Here is strange assortment of items that I am tracking, it is only a work sheet, subject to daily changes, if you see a name or place you are interested in just ask. I am the GGreat-granddaughter of (Absolom Stubblefield : see listed as the last child of NANCY ANN CLORENCE/ CLORANCE/ CLARENCE./ CLARANCE STUBBLEFIELD & UNKNOWN STUBBLEFIELD. We have a family ancestor "Unknown" Stubblefield (said to have been born in Tenn) married: c. 1819 to NANCY ANN "CLORENCE", born 23 May 1800 in SC or NC They had Eight children: > Polly Stubblefield 1819 AL m: Chappell > William Riley Stubblefield 1822 AL m: 1:JaneNelson 2:Mary Belch > Martha Ann Stubblefield 1823 AL m: Williams > James Stubblefield 1825 AL m: Melton > John S.Stubblefield 1827 AL m: Bell > Molinda Stubblefield 1830 AL m: Grissom > Robert Coleman Stubblefield 1834 AL m: Hobbs > Absolom Stubblefield 1841 TENN. m: Harris We would like to find their father's name! Marriages of these families: Stephen Grissom to Ann Eliza Grissom - 9 Mar 1841 - Wilson County, Tennessee John S Stubblefield to Bethenia Bell - 17 Jan 1848 - Wilson County, Tennessee Eldridge P Bell to Eleanor Grissom - 30 Jan 1848 - Wilson County, Tennessee Ridious Bridges to Candis Grissom - Can't Remember - Wilson County, Tennessee Allen Grissom to Malinda Stubblefield - 13 Jan 1848 - Wilson County, Tennessee Andrew Bell to Parolee -Yeates(Yates) - 21 Oct 1852 - Gibson County, Tennessee Willis B Grissom to Margarette Cash - 3 Oct 1854 - Gibson County, Tennessee William R Stublefield to Mary Belch (2nd wife), licence issued 1 Jun 1858 married 3 Jun 1858; Gibson Co., TN Bondsman was John Stublefield.(John is William's brother) Note: All three families intermarried. Allen Grissom married Malinda Stubblefield, John S Stubblefield's sister.. Allen Grissom's sister Eleanor Grissom married Eldridge Bell, also Bethenia Bell's brother. Andrew Bell & Eldridge Bell's sister Bethenia Bell married John Stubblefield. (Big Circle) And we find these families in later census: 1850 census: all had moved to Gibson Co., TN (1860-1870-1880 census: some staying in Gibson Co., TN & some moving to both Hopkins Co., TX & Titus Co., TX) We started with our Stubblefield family in 1819 Dallas & Jackson Co., AL > then Wilson Co., TN in 1847-48> then Gibson Co. TN> then Hopkins Co., TX I am interested to know if the Stubblefield family joined up with the Grissom-Bridges-Bell families in 1819-1840 Al or met them in the Wilson Co., TN 1847-48. Or perhaps I will find the answer to who Unknown Stubblefield is in NC, where these families came from. My search is for a trail backward from 1819 AL. But a friend sent me lots of information of the the several Stubblefield-Grissom-Bridges-Bell-etc families that I mentioned above, who were all related by marriage. So I will dig that out for you and post it. FYI : "Your" Eldridge P. Bell, b 1825 in NC and married in Tennessee around 1845 (see 1848 above) to Eleanor Grissom, b 1829 in Tennessee. Is the brother to Bethenia Bell who married John S. Stubblefield the brother to my GGreat-grandfather Absolom Stubblefield. In addition Steven Thomas had children James Bell b 2/8/1886, Mary E b 8/8/1886. It is these last two that you mention, that are confusing with the birth dates being in the same year, six months apart? And also in that same year is one more sibling Sarah E b. 1/15/1876 What are your sources for these dates? Do you have any information on Lydia the mother &/or the father of Eldrdge & Andrew & Bethenia Bell? This is too much fun.
