FYI: Much of what became TN was originally claimed as part of the North Carolina colony (whether it was later recognized as "Indian Territories" or not). And many of the land grants in TN originated from lands "belonging" to the Univ of North Carolina. It is possible in some of the early "recordings" of individuals' birth place, that when it is listed as North Carolina, it may have in fact been in territory that later became part of other states, particularly TN & KY.
