Jere, I'm still trying to figure out if there was a relationship between the Joe Smith who shot and killed Will Butler in 1927 and Will Butler's wife Emma Smith Butler, who had died in 1923. I believe her name was Emma Clementine Smith, b. 30 Nov 1877. I have never been able to obtain a death certificate for her, tho' I've tried several times. I've never been able to identify the Joe Smith who shot William Butler - only learned his name from "Skullbonia" by Ernest Pounds.
