I strongly suspect that Amanda Cannon's father was James L. Cannon, who was my gg grandfather. I never have been able to prove it, but I consider it highly likely. In 1840 James Cannon married a Mary Taylor. I belive that they had two daughters, Josephine Clementine Cannon and Amanda Cannon. Apparently their mother died, because by the 1850 census they are living with other families. Mary Taylor must have died around 1845, because by 1846 James Cannon marries his second wife, my gg grandmother, Mary Pate. A couple of years ago someone who had a big interest in Meredith Wheeler e-mailed me and I will have to search my records to see if I saved that message. My interest is in the Cannons. Your husband's ggg grandfather is likely to be my gg grandfather, James L. Cannon. You can find him in the 1850 census for Gibson County, TN. He is listed as 35 years old.
