Do any of you know anything about James Barlow Ward a Cumberland Presbyterian Minister that moved form this vacinity to Independence Co, Ark about 1858? The information I have says he moved his family to Arkansas in the caravan of Captain Leslie and settled in what was then Wiley's Cove in Independence Co., Ark. He was married to Nancy Newton Carter of the McLemoresville area of Carroll Co. TN. They took 6 children with them, Howell, Susan, Mary Robert John T., and James David Ward. Information I have says that the children were born near Milan. I know that Susan Ann Baker who married Joseph Luckey also moved from the Madison/Gibson Co line area to Independence co Ark in about the same time frame per place of birth of their children on the 1860 Independence Co Ark census. After Joseph d she brought her children back to Madison Co and is buried in Antioch right across from the church. Does anyone know about these Ward's, or the migration of this group from TN to Ark?
