Kathy Schultz, Do you think this Jones family is descended from Thomas and Catherine "Katy" Shaw Jones? One of their sons was John Washington Jones. Some of the family's names are similar. Max Crocker married to a Jones from Trenton. ----- Original Message ----- From: <kathysschultz@earthlink.net> To: <TNGIBSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, September 20, 2005 9:03 PM Subject: [Norton AntiSpam] [Tngibson] Re: CENSUS 1860/1870 > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Jones, Barn > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ReB.2ACE/235.267.355.1 > > Message Board Post: > > I have some information on a William C. Jones from Dyer in Gibson Co., who was the father of my greatuncle Joseph Johnston Jones. I found their > 3 January 1860 Gibson marriage record on the Gibson Co. Genweb site, and they have read his wife's name as Pruda Barn. I hope I can see the original on microfilm to see if this is what it looks like to me. Do you think that this is the William C. Jones you are looking for? I think that William's father was Washington Jones, and his mother was named Jane, but I haven't found their marriage record yet, which would have to be in North Carolina, since their first 2 children, Mary and William were born in NC. The last 2 on the 1850 Census, Celia and the one shown as "Arthur, age 4" (who my cousin thinks was really named Archer Robert) were both born in TN.
