John Norton originally of Gibson Co --- We have wondered if her younger brother James also came to Obion-Gibson Co and if there is any connection to the "Powell's" in Obion Co History, below the census for my Powell's. 1850 Census, Maury Co TN 887-612 POWELL, Nathl. 51 NC/NC b.abt.1799 Barbary 47 1803 Susan 18 1832 Marzee 17 1833 Rebecca* 14 1836 Sophronia 12 1838 Mary 9 1841 Nancy 8 1842 1860 Census, Maury Co TN 155-511 Powell, Barbara, 58, b. ca. 1802 Marcie, 27, b. ca 1833 Sophronia, 24, b. ca 1836 Nancy A, 18, b. ca 1842 James B, 14, b. ca 1846 Ob.His.Vol.1,p.123: James Wesley Cranford, b.15 Jul 1825, Middle TN, probably from Cranford Hollow, Maury Co near Columbia (both sets of parents born in NC) m. 28 Aug 1851 Susan Jane Powell b. 29 Jan 1829 --- named children (1870 Census Obion Co) George, Frank, William Henry, Barbary, Wesley Nathaniel, Mary Jane, John B.
