Recently made my long awaited visit to the Gibson County Court House. My purpose was to inspect an 1861 marriage license of N A Thomas to D L Dickey. I have wondered if they were the parents of John Henry Dickey. I believe the mother of John was named Matilda and I wanted to see if perhaps the "N" in N A Thomas really looked like an "M" for Matilda. It didn't but is there anyone that might know if an M was sometimes written to look like an N? I would certainly appreciate any comments. I need some moral support.
