Commissioned Capt. 28 June 1862 . 25th and later the 30th Arkansas Infantry. Mortally wounded and Captured by Major Gen B. M. Prentiss at Battle of Helena AR, 4 July 1863. Transported on U.S. Hosp Ship SS R. C. Wood to OfficersÂ’ Hosp, Ward G, Memphis, TN. Died in Memphis Union Hosp 18 Jul 1863. Great grand father William Osborne BOYKIN Born 8 Nov 1831 Madison Co., TN I Co. 18th Cav or Capt, QM, Co. A, 9th TN inf. Died 18 Nov 1883/4 Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co., TN Great Grand Uncle Cleon BOYKIN Born May 1843 Madison Co., TN Pvt, Inf/RegÂ’t/I Company 1st TN Cav. Was a POW and paroled at Jackson, TN.
