Archibald Allison, of the county of Donegal, Ireland, born in 1736, came with a colony from that place and settled in Mecklenburg county, N. C., where he died. He had CHILDREN. 1930. Andrew Allison2 [1929] (Archibald1). He was born in 1770, and lived in North Carolina and Tennessee, and died in Gibson county, Tenn. He married Margaret VARNER or VERNER. He and his descendants were Presbyterians, with many elders and clergymen among them. Many of these Allisons lived near Trenton, Tenn., and later lived near Humboldt, Tenn. CHILDREN. 1930a. Rebecca Allison, m. William Erwin, both of Gibson Co., Tenn., where she d. Her descendants are in southern Illinois. 1931. Joseph Allison (1948), b. Feb. 11, 1796; d. They d. in Tennessee, where his descendants live. 1932. William Allison,3 m. Mary Ann Erwin; m., second, Eleanor Wilson; m., third, Elizabeth Dove; removed to Cumberland, Coles Co., Ill. He left a family. 1933. John Allison3 (1939), clergyman, b. Dec. 8, 1801; d. March 7, 1845. 1934. Elizabeth Allison,3 m. Mr. Killough, both of Gibson Co., Tenn.: removed to Cumberland, Coles Co., Ill. They are deceased, but left a family. 1935. Robert Allison.3 He was a bachelor, and d. in Tennessee. 1936. Andrew Allison.3 He was a clergyman, and d. soon after being licensed to preach. His death occurred in Gibson Co., Tenn. 1937. Jane Allison,3 m. Rev. Charles Hodge, both of Gibson Co., Tenn.; she d. in Tenn. 1938. Nancy Freeman Allison,3 m. Jonathan Dryden, both of Gibson Co., Tenn. Removed to Cumberland, Coles Co., Ill. They are deceased, but left a family.
