I live in Lexington, TN, and I can personnally tell you that yes, Bucksnort does still exist. We pass the sign every time we travel to Nashville. Bucksnort is in Hickman County on or near the Duck River. It's west of Nashville on I-40 just east of the Hickman Co. line. The gas station and store are still there, but I think the Steak and Shake is out of business. Of course, I chuckle every time I see the sign and I'm curious about the origin of the name. I hope you can find it on your map. It's on mine. :) Karyl Fisher -----Original Message----- From: Nancy Wilson <wilsonna@sonic.net> To: TNGIBSON-L@rootsweb.com <TNGIBSON-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, August 11, 1999 8:30 PM Subject: Re: [TNGIBSON] Byegone Towns > >-----Original Message----- >From: Vicki . . . > >" . . .he was born in Buck >>Snort, TN and you cannot locate it on a map, possibly because it no longer >>exists." > >Oh, say it isn't so!! > >My husband and I spent a night in Bucksnort only a few years ago!
